The Miami Dolphins are about to have their toughest physical test of the season.  Though the playoffs are a distant hope at this point, it’s important that they play well and improve each week as they head into the offseason.  The primary thing I want to see if the continued development of Ryan Tannehill.  Tannehill and the Dolphins offense will have a tough matchup today against the 49ers.  Can they put up enough points to win?  We’ll get to that a little later in our picks. On the season we are 29-23, so we’re looking to create some separation between us and the .5o0 mark this week.  Since the Dolphins are on the West Coast, these picks are coming to you a little later than normal.  This will be an abbreviated version, but hopefully some winners for you, nonetheless! Houston Texans +4 over New England Patriots I know the Pats are at home for this big Monday Night Matchup.  I know they are on a roll.  I just don’t see how you can GIVE an 11-1 team 4 points.  Quite honestly, I think the Texans are a more talented team than the Patriots and I expect them to win.  But even if they lose by a field goal, you’re in the money here.  The Patriots have put up a lot of points, but I expect that to change this week against a tough Texans defense.  Texans 27 Patriots 24  (cont’d on page 2, click below)

Dolphins Tannehill Playing Like a Rookie

There was a lot of discussion about criticizing Ryan Tannehill in my last post and I thought I would demonstrate some of the reasons why I'm beginning to fall off the Tanny train. Here is the... Anger will turn to apathy if Dolphins aren’t fixed quickly

The Miami Dolphins are one loss away from finishing the season with a losing record for the 4th straight season.  In case you were wondering, the Dolphins haven’t had a stretch like that since they were an expansion franchise in the 1960′s.  That means the Dolphins haven’t been THIS bad for THIS long in almost 50 years.   It’s sad that the only undefeated franchise in...

Another non-winning season for the Dolphins after falling to 49ers 27-13

The Miami Dolphins took the field on Sunday and were hoping to pick up more than just a morale victory.  Unfortunately, the Dolphins were unable to do so and fell to 5-8 on the season, essentially eliminating them from playoff contention.  The loss also means that the Dolphins will post a 4th straight season at or below .500 after winning the AFC East in 2008.   And getting to...

Reggie Bush And Will Smith Throw Up The Peace Sign

Maybe he will put me in Bad Boys III Juan… Reggie Bush has had pretty average season as he plays the last year of his contract out.  It doesn’t look like he will be back in South Beach.  With Daniel Thomas and Lamar Miller in the fold, the new regime might choose to move on.  Still, Bush has the star power to hang out with Hollywood Heavyweights like Will Smith.  Smith is...

Fantasy Focus: Start’em and Sit’em tips for week 14

The Miami Dolphins still have a sliver of hope that the postseason is still a possibility.  For some fantasy football owners, the playoffs are much more of a reality.  As we head down the home stretch, we want to keep you posted on the best fantasy advice we can offer.  That’s why we’re sharing the below post from James Morris, one of the best in the business.  James knows...

Dolphins have fared surprisingly well out west

DAVIE, Fla. The Miami Dolphins refused to let a Friday night flight alter their pregame preparation. Instead of hanging out at home, well be hanging out on the plane, defensive end Cameron Wake said a couple of hours before the Dolphins departed for San Francisco. Well watch some film together, probably take some naps and get something to eat. Same routine, well just be doing it...

Wake outduels Smith, but he'd trade it for a win

Cameron Wake made another mark on the map of elite pass rushers Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers. The Miami Dolphins defensive end sacked quarterback Colin Kaepernick three times, forcing a fumble on one. He totaled six tackles, with two for a loss. However, his team still lost 27-13. “I would give away every sack I got (14 on the season) for a winning record and the opportunities...

Gameday Deciding Factors: Dolphins at 49ers

Coming off a painful loss to a division rival, the Miami Dolphins (5-7) must travel cross-country to face one of the NFL's most complete teams in the San Francisco 49ers (8-3-1). Ryan Tannehill leads a struggling offense on the road against the league's No. 2 ranked defense, all while being without his best offensive lineman, Jake Long. Miami's defense faces the multidimensional...

Dolphins can't make enough plays down stretch in loss

For the second week in a row, the Miami Dolphins hung tough with one of the best teams in the NFL. And for the second week in a row, they couldn't make enough plays in the fourth quarter. The Dolphins spent more than three quarters of time within a touchdown or less of the San Francisco 49ers but couldn't get it done down the stretch in a 27-13 loss that all but mathematically...

Future assessment is underway for Dolphins

The Miami Dolphins will enter the final quarter of this NFL season with a 5-7 record that they will take on the road against the San Francisco 49ers. Barring a stunning turn around to finish the regular season, the Dolphins will not only have missed the playoffs for the past four seasons, they will also finish with a losing record over that span. While not many realistically expected...

Slumping Dolphins again headed in wrong direction

From the start of his first year as coach of the Miami Dolphins, Joe Philbin stressed the need for steady improvement. Instead, a late-season tailspin has the team headed yet again in the wrong direction - toward a long offseason. The Dolphins (5-8) have lost five of their past six games, ensuring that for a fourth consecutive year they'll finish .500 or worse. Going into its...

Doug Martin Avoiding The Rookie Wall

I’m breaking through the rookie wall Juan … Doug Martin is not concerned with hitting the proverbial rookie wall.  Martin has 268 touches on the season already and is the focal part of the Bucs offense, so don’t think that’s going to change anytime soon. Doug Martin: “That stuff about the rookie wall, I don’t feel that at all. My body feels great and my mind is clear...

NinersDigest’s Craig Massei and DolphinDigest’s Alain Poupart go Behind Enemy Lines to preview Sunday’s game between the 49ers and Dolphins. What happened to the Dolphins after a promising start?
