Found July 04, 2014 on cover32 - Titans:
The offseason is essentially complete, as teams wind down between now and the start of training camp, it’s possible to assess what each team has on their roster; things are essentially set, especially in terms of starting lineups. That being the case, it’s also time to start looking at how teams stack up within their division. One of the best ways to do that is to select the best players at each position from the four teams within the division; dominating that lineup can show that the scales tip in one direction. During a four-week period, the editors at cover32 will be determining the All-Division team for each of the NFL’s eight divisions. Today, it’s a look at the projected All-AFC South squad for 2014. These 10 “contenders” will miss 2014 playoffs — door is open for Tennessee Titans

One of the great things about the NFL is that nearly every team can make a case for the upcoming season being “their year.” That’s because every campaign sees plenty of worst-to-first turnarounds, where non-playoff teams from the year before suddenly find themselves in postseason contention down the stretch. Conversely, that also means that there are plenty of franchise that...

I love…the idea of Jackie Battle at fullback

When the Tennessee Titans have had the personnel to do so, I’ve long clamored for a bigger running back to be shifted to fullback. Even with LenDale White and Chris Johnson, I thought that a one-two punch in the backfield could be terrifying for opposing defenses. If said running back that’s being shifted to fullback can block, you’re losing virtually nothing from lining up...

Tape Don't Lie: How good is Titans Taylor Lewan?

The tape doesn't lie when it comes to new Tennessee Titans offensive lineman Taylor Lewan. Lewan is a talented player who could develop into a very good offensive lineman. Unfortunately, inconsistent technique and a sometimes bad attitude oftentimes tend to overshadow the talent.Reaction was mixed when the Tennessee Titans selected former Michigan offensive tackle Taylor Lewan...

Bernard Pollard provides for his future after the NFL

I am willing to bet that very few sports fans are aware that the athletes they worship frequently lose the millions of dollars they made during their careers. The fact is that 78 percent of professional football players ‘go broke.’ Here is how Bernard Pollard is providing for his future after the NFL. The most famous case in history of an athlete who died virtually penniless...

Kendall Wright's fantasy stock on the rise

Kendall Wright is the Titans' best offensive player heading into his third season. But there are so many quality receivers in the NFL, and many of them play with quarterbacks with better outlooks than Jake Locker. So hype-wise, and fantasy-wise, Wright is not yet drawing a ton of attention. I'd love to have him on my team when I draft a fantasy side, though the Displaced...

More on DaQuan Jones

Watching DaQuan Jones, I wondered, is he more than just a big guy on the defensive line? If he was, how would I tell? Scouting college players is all about projection of player traits to the next level. I’m comfortable with uncertainty in this process; that’s what my post on Bishop Sankey a couple days ago was all about. With Sankey, though, I had my ideas of what I was seeing...

Facebook Friday: Remembering Steve McNair

Five years ago, one of the best quarterbacks in franchise history was tragically killed. Regardless of your opinion of the player off the field, it’s important to remember what he did for the team, franchise and as an individual. He was a three-time Pro Bowler, co-MVP and took his team to the Super Bowl in the dramatic one-yard-short contest against the St. Louis Rams. Check out...

2014 Fantasy Football: Running Back Training Camp Battles

With training camp and preseason just over the horizon, fantasy football owners are—or at least, should be—gearing up for the 2014 fantasy football season. There are just 61 days until kickoff, and the owners who want to get off to a fast start have shifted their attention from menial things like jobs and families back to fantasy football. As we near the home stretch of the offseason...
