Found May 16, 2013 on Steelers Depot:
Quarterback Brian Hoyer is back in the AFC North again after signing a two-year deal with the Cleveland Browns on Thursday. Hoyer, who released by the Arizona Cardinals on Monday, now figures to push both Brandon Weeden and Jason Campbell hard in training camp. It should be noted that Hoyer received some guaranteed money in his deal, so that is likely a sign that the Browns intend on keeping him around in 2013. Hoyer spent most of the 2012 season unemployed following his late August release from the New England Patriots, but wound up being signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers in late November Read more [...]

Browns agree to terms with QB Hoyer

The Browns have agreed to terms on a two-year contract with former Arizona quarterback Brian Hoyer. Hoyer, cut earlier this week by the Cardinals, is expected to compete for a backup job behind either Brandon Weeden or Jason Campbell. The Browns also have third-stringer Thaddeus Lewis on their roster. Hoyer, who is from the Cleveland area, has made just one career start in four...

Brian Hoyer, Brandon Weeden and what it all could mean

A fictional conversation that could have taken place in Berea over the last couple of days… Michael Lombardi: “Hey. Have you heard of Brian Hoyer?” Ray Farmer: “You mean the journeyman Michigan State guy who went undrafted in 2009, with one career NFL start who was cut flat by the team, the Arizona Cardinals, with some of the worst quarterback play since Kurt Warner retired...

Ray Horton on Barkevious Mingo: “I want him to be a dominating player.”

Following mini-camp on Thursday, defensive coordinator Ray Horton met with the media. When asked about first round pick Barkevious Mingo’s weight (a popular topic for discussion lately) Horton talked about what he wants from the linebacker. “I want him to be a dominating player,” he said. “Weight? Some guys are too big, some guys are too small. Some guys aren’t fast enough...

Arizona Cardinals: Michael Floyd Working as No. 2 WR in OTAs

Cardinals receiver Michael Floyd has been running ahead of Andre Roberts so far in OTAs, according to the Arizona Republic.Fantasy Spin:Floyd was taken 13th overall by the Cardinals in the 2012 NFL Draft but was behind Roberts for most of the season. He did have eight catches for 166 yards and a touchdown in Week 17 to finish with 45 receptions, 562 yards and two scores in his rookie...

Jason Cambell creeping up behind Brandon Weeden?

Not good news for Cleveland Browns QB Brandon Weeden. If he's going to remain the team's starter, he apparently better start impressing quick if we're to read anything into Steve Doerschuk of The Canton Repository's comments. "Campbell's clearly bigger than Brandon Weeden. He made (third-string passer) Thaddeus Lewis look like a shrimp," Doerschuk...

Brandon Weeden won’t be worried about competition: ‘you can’t be looking over your shoulder all the time’

Cleveland Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden got a vote of confidence when the team didn’t draft a QB in the 2013 NFL Draft. CEO Joe Banner and GM Mike Lombardi have decided that they will ride with either Weeden or backup Jason Campbell, but there won’t be any carousel. Weeden now has he chance to compete against Campbell without any distractions or rookie sleepers creeping...

A pressing problem: The Browns and the media

Only the Cleveland Browns could grant a writer unprecedented access to the teams draft preparation, then wind up reading a story about how paranoid and defensive the team is.Think about it. A team offers a guy inside access for what could be an interesting and insightful look at the draft, then gives him so much runaround and so little information he winds up writing how ridiculous...

Craigslist Weirdness: Own Percy Ellsworth’s Cleveland Browns stadium seat

Sometimes scouring Craigslist can yield very strange results. According to one listing, you can purchase a bright orange stadium seat from Cleveland Browns stadium that was presumably never installed in the stadium at all. And it will only cost you $200 if you pay asking price. Even more strange is that the seller apparently purchased this at a storage locker auction and the locker...

Browns QB Weeden: "I want to be the guy"

The way Brandon Weeden sees it, nothing's changed. He's still Cleveland's starter. Sure, he was aware the Browns had worked out several top college quarterbacks leading into April's draft, but they didn't pick one. He's also mindful that veteran Jason Campbell can beat him out if he's not on his game. And, Weeden knows there are those who doubt he can...

News Channel 5′s Ron Regan reports that Haslam denied any knowledge of rebate fraud- “Pilot Flying J CEO Jimmy Haslam told trucking industry leaders Thursday in Indianapolis that he knew nothing about nor did he participate in an alleged fuel-rebate fraud.” In addition...

Browns quarterback competition heating up

Brandon Weeden will go into training camp later this offseason as the favorite to win the Browns' starting quarterback job, if for no other reason than being the young incumbent. Still, that doesn't guarantee that he'll be starting the season as the Browns' starter. Steve Doerschuk of the Canton Repository wrote yesterday that Jason Campbell is hard to miss at...

Josh Cribbs spent 8 seasons in Cleveland, but it was time for change for both perspective parties.  Pro Football Talk is reporting that the versatile kick returner/wide receiver has signed with the Oakland Raiders.
