Regardless of their investment in him, the St. Louis Rams will have to rethink where their loyalties lie in 2013 if Sam Bradford does not take a major leap forward in this his third year in the league.

That is not a prediction that Bradford will do poorly.

In fact, with his favorite weapon Danny Amendola back from injury, receiver Brandon Gibson tearing it up as he fights for his job, promising draft picks Brian Quick and Chris Givens and the free agent pickup of former Giant/Eagle Steve Smith, Bradford has no reason to fail.

There is just one little problem…the ankle injury that he sustained 10 months ago is still giving him trouble.

Sam Bradford’s ankle still isn’t healthy

Getty Images St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford told reporters on Sunday that his ankle still isn’t 100 percent healthy, per the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “It’s close,” Bradford said. “I think it’s as good as it’s going to feel. It’s something that we’re managing right now. I’ve been able to take every snap so far without any setbacks and I think that’s...

CB Fletcher impressing Rams, so far

Updates. New St. Louis Rams coach Jeff Fisher admits he is not that familiar with veteran cornerback Bradley Fletcher. But he likes what he has seen so far. Fletcher's problem has been staying on the field. After playing all 16 games for the Rams in 2010 and making 65 solo tackles and four interceptions, he appeared in just four games in 2011 before tearing his right ACL for...

St. Louis Rams Fan Fest: Complete Scrimmage Analysis

For years, while living under the shadow of the Greatest Show on Turf, the Rams lost games and fans through unfocused and uninspired attempts to become what they once were. By finally choosing a new model, the feeling in Rams Park is that the franchise has finally gained some traction in the uphill climb back to respectability. Along with a major upheaval internally, the Rams have...

Isaiah Pead More than Just a Change of Pace Back?

The Rams finally addressed the back up running spot, too late we fear to extend the great Steven Jackson's career. They selected Isaiah Pead in the 2nd round of April's NFL draft and he is drawing impressive comparisons to players like Chris Johnson and LeSean McCoy.

Fantasy Football Sleeper Alert: Steve Smith

After a breakout 2009 campaign in which he caught a career high 107 passes for 1220 yards, former New York Giant wide receiver Steve Smith appeared to be on the brink of a stellar NFL career. Unfortunately, a serious knee injury cost the former USC star most of the 2010 season, and he failed to do much with the Eagles after signing with Philadelphia as a free agent in 2011. Smith...

RamsCamp 2012: Knocking The Rust Off Sam Bradford's Deep Pass

At Rams Camp on a sweltering friday afternoon, I paid close attention to Sam Bradford - his timing and his targets in his passing drills. I wanted to pay particular attention to how quickly he was able to deliver the ball after the snap, and whether he could avoid "sacks" behind his offensive line. The good news is that Bradford was every bit as sharp as recent camp...

Rams Fan Fest 2012: Up Close and Personal (Photos)

Photo: running my fingers through the turf and the rubber "dirt" on the Rams' home field. A lot of things have changed over the past few years for the Rams, following Georgia Frontiere's death. Even as questions remain over the team's long-term future in St Louis, the Rams have been working to reconnect with the local fan base. The latest example of this...

Setting Expectations: What Makes a "Good" Season for Sam Bradford?

@ramsherd @wynnde13 Guys, Guys, Guys, Guys, I just gotta know....will Sam Bradford throw for 4,000+- yds? — Adam 10-House (@Joben74) August 7, 2012 This question interrupted a little debate between Wynnde and I, and got me thinking. We all are pinning our hopes on Brian Schottenheimer to resurrect Sam Bradford's rookie promise, and get him back on the "rising young...
