Ravens Linebacker Ray Lewis put Hines Ward out of the game on Sunday with a blow to the head.  There was no flag thrown and Ward was unable to return to the game.  It was a blatant shot to the head.  Lewis did not bend down to even attempt to hit Ward correctly.  If it was James Harrison on the hit he may have been suspended for life.

Even the announcers for the game said it was an illegal hit but then they blew it off.  Making it sound like it was the Ravens vs. the Steelers and that is how these games are played.  That would be fine if Ryan Clark wasn’t penalized for the same damn thing right afterwards.  Lewis’ hit was much worse than Clark’s and no one seemed to care.

Lewis needs to be fined for the hit. Not because I am a Steelers fan or that I do not like Ray Lewis because I do like Ray Lewis.  You can’t not respect what the man has done through out his career.  He will go down as probably the best middle linebacker ever.

The officials in the Steelers games continuously throw flags on the Steelers for these types of hits.  The Steelers are one of the more fined teams in the NFL for this type of play.  April O’Neil gave you the amounts we have been fined already.  We get fined any time we hit someone clean. When it happens to the Steelers it does not seem to matter though.  I just want it to be fair for everyone.

If Lewis is not fined you would be sending the same bad message that you are already sending to quarterbacks.  If you are part of the brand and we need you then you will get treated differently.  Lewis should not get the Peyton Manning and Tom Brady treatment.  He made the hit so he should be punished for it.
