So many reasons…

With the drama between Peyton Manning and Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay escalating seemingly weekly, many appear to believe Manning’s time in Indy is over. With that being the case, the speculation of Manning’s next destination has grown bigger.

It has become a hot topic that even stole a lot of the attention during Super Bowl week.

I have heard 5 teams most commonly linked with interest in, or apparently in need of Manning. The Arizona Cardinals, Miami Dolphins, Washington Redskins, New York Jets and our beloved Seattle Seahawks seem to be the popular 5.

This personal opinion is based off what I have read and seen and heard since the conversations began.

If this is the case, I hope this is a joke. The Seahawks should not pursue Peyton Manning.

Here’s why.

5. My hatred for the Manning family

I have not been shy in my bashing of the entire Manning family, mainly Archie and Eli. Archie is a flat out douche and Eli is a mouth breathing dummy.

When Eli was drafted by the San Diego Chargers #1 overall in the 2004 NFL Draft, Archie stepped in. He said that Eli (Eli eventually weakly backed him up) was going to refuse to play for the Chargers if drafted by them.

So they worked a deal to send him to the Giants for Phillip Rivers and drafted picks used to draft Shawne Merriman and Nate Kaeding.

Peyton comes into this in the fact that he is now starting to seemingly follow in those footsteps with his current spat with the Colts. I just hope he doesn’t ruin his legacy in the end and wind up remembered like his father.

4. His attitude

Recently, Peyton has seemed to become angry, agitated, and ticked off. Not just during the current drama, but in the last season or two.  He has been irritated, angry, and from the sound of it, as opinionated as openly as his dad.

It seems to grow each year and I would hate to inherit a ****** Peyton Manning. It would demerit his leadership skills and work against what this front office seems to be looking for.

Peyton Manning is the devil! (Here's proof!)

3. His price tag

If Peyton is miraculously kept on when the March 8th deadline hits, he will be owed $28 million by the Colts. If he doesn’t receive that ridiculous amount of money, he will go to a team via free agency for a price somewhere close to that one.

The Seahawks cannot afford to pay such a high salary to Manning when they are trying to fill voids and gaps in the roster. Nor would Peyton be worth the money he’s making next year, no matter where he is.

2. His age

Peyton is 35 years old. While quarterbacks have lasted into their 40′s, they still withered out the last years of their career. They were there more for sentimental reason while their production and their minutes gradually declined.

Peyton is up there and I don’t know if he can play at the level to be as productive as people are hoping for.

Seattle is a young team and seemingly getting younger. He doesn’t fit the profile for this team as he is not young and can’t be mobile enough to scramble when nothing opens up downfield. It would be much more efficient and true to their rebuilding plan to bring in a young guy to mold the offense around for years to come.

1. His injury

Manning sat out all of last season with a neck injury. The tricky thing about his situation is the secrecy surrounding his injury. It was leaked that he has now had 4 surgeries performed on his neck in the last year. That is not good.

If Manning takes a big hit, he could be done with in a very serious way. That’s not how anyone wants to remember him.

With a spotty offensive line who still needs to play together to click, Manning would be at risk on many snaps.

Another injury-related point I’d like to make is that I don’t believe Manning will go to a cold weather team. The chance of him taking devastating shots is too much, but the cold would make it even worse. You know how you get a little stiff or sore when it’s chilly out. Think of the man’s neck.

To summarize, the Seahawks need to pass on the Peyton Manning sweepstakes.

He’s not worth it, plain and simple.
