According to ProFootballWeekly.com, the Washington Redskins might have a leg up on the competition when it comes to getting a deal done for the number two overall pick in April’s draft. Both Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan and Rams head coach Jeff Fisher, as well as Redskins general manager Bruce Allen and Rams COO Kevin Demoff have a very close relationship, which could  help them hammer out a deal that would enable the Redskins acquire the second overall pick.

Redskins start offseason by locking up key current players

With the NFL combine complete and free agency brewing, the Washington Redskins have decided to look within Redskins’ Park. Some of the big moves have been with their current players. The team announced today that they will use their franchise tag on free agent tight end Fred Davis. Basically a “Franchise Tag” is when a team elects to keep a player that is about to become an...

Redskins put franchise tag on TE Fred Davis

The Washington Redskins have placed their franchise tag on tight end Fred Davis, who was suspended by the NFL for the last four games of last season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Despite missing a quarter of the season, Davis was second on the Redskins with 59 catches and 796 yards receiving, both career highs. In four NFL seasons since being drafted out...

Redskins place franchise tag on Fred Davis

According to Mike Jones of the Washington Post, the Redskins will use their franchise tag on tight end Fred Davis. Under the franchise tag, Davis will make just over $5 million for the 2012 season. In addition, a former Bills player said Williams promoted cash bonuses for delivering hits that seriously injured...

NFL Draft 2012: Browns Unwilling To Trade No. 22 Pick To St. Louis As Part Of Package To Move Up

Certainly the biggest story of next month’s NFL draft is where Baylor quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III will land. So that’s fueled rampant trade rumors...

Redskins SS LaRon Landry Set To Move On

Profootballtalk.com reports that a league source has mentioned S LaRon Landry is “expected” be playing elsewhere next season. So far, Washington has shown very little interest in negotiating a long-term contract with Landry and the fact that they used their franchise tag on TE Fred Davis earlier in the day suggests that he’s not going to be on their roster at the start of the...

Cleveland Browns outgun Washington Redskins in chase for Robert Griffin III

It must be true that great minds think alike. LaVar Arrington wrote today that the Washington Redskins are bringing a knife to a gunfight in the competition for Robert Griffin III. The Cleveland Browns have more to offer in a trade-up scenario than the Redskins do. Arrington got his story out first, so I won't steal much of his thunder. His main points are that Cleveland'...
