Found December 12, 2011 on The Rap Sheet:
There was a serious focus on referees after the game, as several questionable flags drew the ire of the players. In the Patriots 34-27 win over the Redskins, the shouting surrounded DE Andre Carter’s roughing call, a flag on Vince Wilfork for unnecessary roughness, a call on London Fletcher for roughing, and an offensive pass-interference penalty on WR Santana Moss. Carter took it to heart, frustrated at being penalized for his low hit to Redskins QB Rex Grossman. He didn’t agree, but did conclude, “That was my fault and I will try better to not put our defense in that situation.” Let’s just say, Moss was not so kind. He unloaded on the refs for his penalty that negated a possible tying touchdown. Un. Loaded.  Want a sample? Moss, on the call in general: “I don’t know, I mean I’ve been playing this game for a long time and I still find it hard to believe that it’s alright for somebody to mug us at five yards but we can’t get the guy off us, so they called pass interference on us. Ho...

Santana Moss: “We got to play against the team and the refs”

The Redskins’ 34-27 loss to the New England Patriots came down to the final possession of the game and two key plays to wide receiver Santana Moss. The first resulted in a pass interference call on Moss; the second an interception that bounced out of Moss’s hands. Afterward, Moss – the Redskins’ offensive captain who went over 9,000 yards receiving for his career Sunday –...

Mike Shanahan agrees with offensive pass interference call against Santana Moss

Washington Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan said he agreed with a critical offensive pass interference call against Santana Moss Sunday that wiped out a game-tying touchdown. But he said he remains convinced that officials were wrong on a call against London Fletcher, who was flagged for unnecessary roughness on a tackle of Tom Brady. Read full article >>

Redskins-Patriots best and worst

Best and worst moments from the Redskins’ 34-27 loss to the New England Patriots at FedEx Field. Worst Replay: Perhaps the most important play of the game came in the final minute. Santana Moss appeared to catch a touchdown pass to draw Washington within one, but officials flagged Moss for offensive pass interference. You have to show that replay. Multiple times. CBS never did...

Skins complain about calls in 34-27 loss to Pats

Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan thought a penalty called on linebacker London Fletcher for a hit on New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was ''horrible.'' Questioning another flag that went against the Redskins, receiver Santana Moss took it a step further, declaring: ''I guess we've got to play against a team and the ref.'' Last...

Patriots' Carter To Face Old Team

New England Patriots defensive lineman Andre Carter is undergoing rejuvenation of sorts in New England. After getting the heave-ho from the Redskins, Carter has a chance to show Washington they made a mistake.

No Moral Victories in Loss to Pats

For one brief, euphoric moment it appear as if Santana Moss had given the Washington Redskins a ray of hope in an otherwise discouraging season. He had just pulled in a touchdown pass from Rex Grossman with under a minute to play in the fourth quarter to bring the Redskins within one. An extra point would have tied it and a two-point conversion would have given them the lead. But...

Pats hold on, 34-27

By Paul KenyonJerod Mayo intercepted a deflected pass with 22 seconds left, clinching a 34-27 victory for New England over Washington Sunday afternoon. Rex Grossman flipped a short pass over the middle to Santana Moss. Moss, at the six-yard-line, was hit by Tracy White and the ball popped out toward Mayo, who made a diving catch to end it.

Mike Shanahan likely would have gone for two

Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said he likely would have gone for two points and the victory had his team scored on its final drive of the game. Trailing 34-27 when Josh Wilson intercepted Tom Brady in the end zone with 6:37 left on the clock, the Redskins marched 75 yards and threatened to score. Rex Grossman completed a five-yard touchdown pass to Santana Moss, but the...

Redskins-Patriots Open Thread

Kickoff: 1 p.m. ET Line: Redskins +9 Prediction: Patriots by 18 Beer: Okay, playing the Patriots is never fun. Playing Andre Carter with his hand in the dirt is a nightmare. On the other hand drinking beer from Boston is terrific. This game will go great with a Mystic Saison, a new brewery in Chelsea. If there’s a fake spike to go up 24-0 at the end of the first half maybe I can...

Skins Fall in Shootout, 34-27

The New England Patriots condemned the Washington Redskins to a fourth straight losing season as the visitors walked away with a 34-27 victory at FedEx Field Sunday afternoon. On the Right Side of Ugly: Patriots Beat Redskins 34-27

The New England Patriots went into Washington and slugged it out with the Redskins for sixty minutes. The defense reverted back to being void of the ability to sustain fundamental football as Santana Moss (81 YDS, 1 TD) regularly beat Devin McCourty and was able to haul in a touchdown pass off a double reverse. Rex Grossman (252 YDS, 2 TD) got the “You’re a star QB today treatment”...
