PLAYERS: Jairus Byrd
TEAMS: Buffalo Bills

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, contract talks between the Buffalo Bills and Jairus Byrd have gone no where, which is why they drafted two safeties this weekend. On the #Bills drafting two safeties: My understanding is the Jairus Byrd negotiations are nowhere. He hasn’t shown for workouts. Backup plan — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 27, 2013 Byrd is clearly unhappy that the Bills used the franchise tag on him this offseason.  It will be interesting to see how long he holds out.   Need NFL Tickets? Jim Kelly hopes E.J. Manuel can deliver for the Bills

Former Bills great Jim Kelly believes E.J. Manuel gives the city of Buffalo as well as the Bills some hope for the future. “I think I’m as hopeful as every fan in Buffalo,” Kelly said, per the Buffalo News. “I live here. This is my home now. I said it earlier: You get tired of people always referring back to when I played. I don’t want to do that. I want to refer somebody...

Bills select versatile ILB Kiko Alonso from Oregon

After trading down in the first round with the St. Louis Rams, the Buffalo Bills used of the four picks they received, the16th pick in the second round (46th overall), to select the versatile ILB from Oregon, Kiko Alonso. Alonso is versatile enough to play either play inside or outside depending style of defensive scheme. Figures to be an inside linebacker for a 3-4, and outside...

Buffalo Bills sign CB Vernon Kearney of Lane College

Today the news just kept getting better.  Vernon Kearney is one of my top rated cornerbacks in the small schools because of his long length and speed.  The former Lane College standout played under Derrick Burroughs the former first rounder of the Buffalo Bills.  Kearney was able to get into a couple All Star games and showcase his talents.  After getting into the games, he didn’t...

Rookie QB Manuel has ties to Bills famed past

Buffalo Bills rookie quarterback EJ Manuel is already well-connected to the franchise's Hall-of-Fame past. Bruce Smith, the NFL's career sack leader, is his godfather. Former star quarterback Jim Kelly is ready to take Manuel under his wing. On Friday, Manuel began looking ahead to the future, a day after being the only quarterback selected in the first round of the NFL...

The Buffalo Bills signed rookie free agent wide receiver Da’Rick Rogers, who played college ball at Tennessee Tech. I’m a Buffalo Bill. — Da’Rick Rogers (@darickrogers) April 28, 2013 Rogers was expected to get drafted, but off the field problems ended up being his demise and no one took him. Though Rogers does have off the field concerns after getting kicked out of the...

With members of the Buffalo Bills hierarchy expecting the rookie to compete in 2013, E.J. Manuel may get maimed in Orchard Park this autumn

Sounding ******* crazy, members of the Buffalo Bills hierarchy expect raw rookie E.J. Manuel to compete with Kevin Kolb to become the team’s starting quarterback in 2013. The 23-year-old Manuel, drafted by Buffalo 16th overall out of Florida State on Thursday, is brimming with potential. However, the 2013 Senior Bowl MVP and 2012 second team All-ACC selection is nowhere near ready...

Fantasy Impact: EJ Manuel

I’m an impressive guy Juan… The Bills went into this draft with EJ firmly placed in their sights.  While most thought they would go with Geno or Nassib early, they moved down in the first and still got their guy.  Manuel is an intriguing guy from a fantasy standpoint based on the fact that he can run and sling the rock.  He is a project a la Kaepernick and may take some time...

USC WR Woods drafted by Bills at No. 41

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) -- The Buffalo Bills have selected Southern California junior receiver Robert Woods with the 41st pick in the NFL draft. Woods joins first-round selection Florida State quarterback EJ Manuel in what's becoming a revamped offense under rookie head coach Doug Marrone. Bills add undrafted wide receiver Da’Rick Rogers

The Buffalo Bills were quick to pounce on undrafted free agent Da’Rick Rogers. Rogers spent last season at Tennessee Tech grabbing 67 passes for 1,040 yards and nine touchdowns. Rogers ran a 4.52 forty and posted the second best broad jump among receivers but concerns about his off field antics left him out of the draft. Before attending Tennessee Tech the 20-year-old played for...

Day Two Bills Predictions

The Buffalo Bills made a bold and surprising move on Thursday night when they selected quarterback EJ Manuel instead of Geno Smith or Ryan Nassib with the 16th overall pick. It caught a lot of flack from the so-called “draft experts” for being a pick that could have waited. While that may be the case, the Bills had a mission and idea in mind, and they did what they had to do...

Geno Smith not returning for Round 2

The NFL Draft came and went with several significant surprises, perhaps none more shocking than the Buffalo Bills taking quarterback EJ Manuel in the middle of the first round. What makes the selection even more surprising is that former West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith was available at the time. Smith fell past the Bills and every other team in the first round, and the top prospect...

Tennessee Tech WR Rogers agrees to sign with Bills

Passed over in the NFL draft following a troubled college career, Tennessee Tech receiver Da'Rick Rogers has agreed to sign with Buffalo Bills. Rogers' agent Joby Branion, on Sunday, confirmed his client agreed to terms with Buffalo. The player announced the news a day earlier by writing, ''I'm a Buffalo Bill,'' on his Twitter account. Projected by some...

Linemen & trades highlight surprising first round

There is one thing that is always unpredictable when it comes to trying to forecast the NFL draft. Team needs are easily identified and news leaks of players going to a particular team, but one thing you can rarely see coming is a trade. The when, who and where in the draft almost always blow up mock drafts. Mine was no different. But even with the surprises, my mock got five players...
