According to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Eagles have been looking for a third and possibly a fourth round pick for cornerback Asante Samuel. Now they’re willing to accept less than that. The Broncos reportedly offered the Eagles a fifth or sixth round pick for Samuel. The reason nothing has happened yet is because he has agreed to restructure his contract, but Samuel has yet to agree on some other requests from the Broncos. The Eagles have also been talking with other teams that might be interested in acquiring Samuel.

Asante for a third-round pick?

The Eagles are reportedly desperate to unload Asante Samuel, and it is believed they would take as little as a third-round pick at this point just to get rid of him.

Asante Samuel was almost a Denver Bronco according to report.

DENVER—A few weeks ago, the trade rumors in regards to Philadelphia Eagles corner Asante Samuel started to swirl like a pinwheel. With the team having two other top flights CB’s on their roster in Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Samuel feeling displaced thanks to these acquisitions last year, the obvious conclusion was being overstated. Asante Samuel coming back to the Patriots?

If Deion Branch and Josh McDaniels can come back into the fold, there’s no reason Asante Samuel can’t do the same. This year’s Wes Welker franchise tag situation is similar to how it played out when the New England Patriots slapped the tag on Branch and Samuel in the past. If Welker, wants to hold out, and leave- fine. He’ll soon see the grass was greener where he was. Cornerback...
