Minnesota Vikings stud running back Adrian Peterson will be playing his last season in his 20′s in 2014. As many experts like to comment that once running backs hit that elderly age of 30, it’s all downhill from there. Could this be the case for Peterson, who has played for seven seasons, tallying up an incredible 10,115 total rushing yards and 86 rushing touchdowns? That is quite a bit of mileage on Adrian Peterson’s body. Talks earlier this year focused on offensive coordinator Norv Turner’s scheme and that the Vikings may utilize Peterson in more of a receiving role this year to lessen the toll on his body. Either way, Peterson fans are speaking up and they want to know what exactly the Vikings’ plans are for their beloved running back. ADRIAN PETERSON…WILL HE STAY OR WILL HE GO..VIKINGS FANS WANT TO KNOW! http://t.co/Uw6YD9fpNo — FootballFanRushRadio (@FootballFanRush) May 12, 2014 Reported by Mike Freeman of the Bleacher Report.. The Vikings are looking for ways to part with superstar runner Adrian Peterson sooner rather than later,” and quoted an AFC general manager who believes the 2014 season will be Peterson’s last in Minnesota. Peterson will make $12 million this season, counting his $250,000 workout bonus, and he’s due to be paid $44 million in the last three years of his deal — though the Vikings would face just a $2.4 million cap hit if they cut him after this season and no penalty if they released him after 2015. Not only are fans wondering what Peterson’s fate is, but fantasy football is soon approaching and after a stellar year in 2012, Peterson dropped from the No. 1 ranked running back to the eighth-ranked running back in 2013. There is no doubt in Peterson’s last season we saw quite a drop in production as nagging injuries cropped up here and there, tanking his production and fantasy points some weeks, making his a sketchier fantasy pick for 2014. The Peterson situation will have to be monitored throughout the preseason, but his age and contract structure certainly raise some unwanted red flags as the start of the 2014 regular season comes closer each week. As most of us know, the Minnesota Viking just drafted a new rookie quarterback in Teddy Bridgewater last Thursday night, who could potentially earn the starting role sometime in his first season with his new team. I’m sure Viking fans would love to see at least one year where Bridgewater and Peterson could share the field, right? Teddy Bridgewater & Adrian Peterson? Vikings are gonna be badass this season.
