Massachusetts State Police recently searched an apartment owned by Aaron Hernandez, uncovering some new evidence in the murder case against the former Patriots tight end. Police enacted search warrants on a condo Hernandez owned in Franklin, Mass., which just over a dozen miles from his $1.4 million North Attleboro home, in late June, according to the Boston Herald. The search turned up some very interesting evidence, including .45-caliber ammo — the same caliber bullet used in Odin Lloyd‘s death — some .22-caliber ammo and a white sweatshirt that Hernandez’s was believed to be wearing on the night of the murder. Hernandez’s associate Carlos Ortiz, who has also been arrested in connection with the murder, is believed to be the informant who led police to the $1,200 per-month apartment, which he refers to as a “flop house.”  Ortiz is being held on a weapons charge in connection with the murder, while Hernandez faces first-degree murder and multiple weapons charges. Police believe the hooded-sweatshirt they uncovered could be a key piece of evidence in linking Hernandez directly to the murder, saying the piece of clothing was “consistent in color and type with the sweatshirt that Hernandez is observed to be wearing on surveillance cameras the night of the homicide.” In their search of the apartment, authorities also found paychecks from both the Patriots and Puma, who ended their sponsorship with Hernandez after his arrest, a valet receipt from a Boston hotel, a Hertz rental car agreement, a Western Union receipt and two sets of keys to a brand-new hummer SUV.
