PLAYERS: Mark Sanchez
TEAMS: New York Jets
There's no question that Jets faithful are one of the most passionate fan bases in the NFL. But as Mark Sanchez has witnessed, some (OK, a lot) of that passion is not always directed in a positive manner. Sanchez, he of the ButtFumble lore, has been a punching bag for Jets fans in recent months, and things came to a head during Saturday's intrasquad scrimmage, when thousands mercilessly booed him for throwing an interception. At the time, cornerback Antonio Cromartie called the gesture "bull crap." Now, the media is piling on, yet surprisingly in the incumbent quarterback's favor. In a scathing column for the New York Daily News, reporter Manish Mehta blasted the boo-birds, labeling a segment of Jets fans as "classless," "self-loathing," and "obnoxious," among other adjectives. Sanchez doesn't disagree. “Hey, you’re preaching to the choir,” Sanchez said. “You heard what Cromartie said. Cromartie was pissed. Cromar...

  • Sorry Mr. Manish Mehta....WRONG ANSWER!!!! The fans have every right to boo, they pay good money which makes guys like Sanchez and Cromartie RICH!!!! And the fans are fed up with the joke that IS the New York Jests. As a Giants fan I enjoy the comedy of the Jests organization...but the fans have every right to be fed up with how the organization is run. I mean seriously, they actually thought it was a good idea to retain that clown of a head coach. The jests deserve to have another horrible season so they may as well throw Smith to the wolves and start grooming him for the future. But my money is on the fact that this organization of clueless clowns will find yet another way to screw it up. J E S T S JESTS! JESTS! JESTS!
  • I agree completely, I am tired of Jets players supporting Sanchez, he is awful and has embarrassed the Jets organization almost as much as their head coach and clueless owner. They actually retained a head coach that said publicly that he ignored the offense !! We all know Sanchez will be as bad this year, as he has been the last two years. If the Jets want to charge for games , they better put a better product on the field.
  • People should get their facts straight. I was at the game and "Thousands" did not mercilessly boo Sanchez. Maybe 50 people booed mildly for about 3 seconds. And Cromartie tried to "show up" Sanchez with his antics after the interception.
  • Who's talking about a game??? It was a scrimmage. Cromartie was referring to the fans at a practice session booing Mr. Buttfumble. That's the fans saying..."We don't want this loser at QB". So maybe you should work on getting YOUR facts straight. Sanchez sucks, PERIOD!!! I hope they do start the season with him under center, as a Giants fan I Love seeing the Jests lose.

Jets QB Mark Sanchez Talks Playoffs (really, he is!)

Mark Sanchez is called a lot of things. Often times those 'things' are not very complimentary. There is one thing that no one will ever be to call him--a player that lacks confidence. Why? Because after all the drama on and off the field he still talks the talk and acts like his time can get the job done. Like he did recently when he said the Jets are playoff-bound...

Mark Sanchez Thinks The Playoffs “Are A Given” For Jets

Mark Sanchez may or may not feel like he’s going to be the starting quarterback for the Jets, but he definitely can’t afford to show any signs of lacking confidence. Sanchez who is playing for his NFL life, told the L.A. Times that “things will turn around in New York,” and “the Jets will make the playoffs.” “[I]t will turn around,” Sanchez recently told Sam Farmer...

Sanchez: 'I earned right to start'

Mark Sanchez was hardly surprised when he was told he was starting the New York Jets' preseason opener at Detroit. And, not only because he has been here longer than Geno Smith. As anyone who follows the New York Jets knows, whether it be closely or casually, there are certain topics that are repeatedly beat to death by the media, fan base, observers, etc. There are numerous issues that seem to be debated back and forth, over and over again, without either side making much progress for the sake of their argument. Sanchez to start preseason opener

Jets' Sanchez solid; Smith struggles

Mark Sanchez tossed a pass that zipped through the end zone, over a fence and onto the roof of a golf cart parked on the other side. And, it was a good -- and smart -- play. Rather than try to force it to a receiver who wasn't open during red zone drills Monday, the New York Jets quarterback threw the ball away so that no one could reach it. For a guy who has been plagued by...

Mark Sanchez Appreciates Antonio Cromartie Telling Fans Not To Boo

Antonio Cromartie is the Jets unquestioned team leader, so it was no surprise that Cromartie took Jets fans to task for booing Mark Sanchez during a recent scrimmage. Sanchez said, “Hey, you’re preaching to the choir.” Sanchez then added he was happy to have Cromartie...

Jets GM wants Geno Smith to beat out Sanchez

Geno Smith has passed his daily quizzes for two weeks playing flag football in training camp but the real exam comes Friday night when he trades in his red non-contact jersey for a green-and-white one.
