New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan has said that he wants to be more involved with his defense this year, opposed to last season when he apparently didn’t know what was going on.

“He did fade off a little bit,” Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis said. “I don’t know the reason for it. He’s a head coach. He has a lot on his plate. It’s a lot of pressure. It’s just something that maybe he thought he put more trust in the coaching staff and seeing that it kind of hurt us a little bit last year. Not to frown (on) any coaches or how they coach. It’s good to see your head coach being involved and maybe just putting his two cents in, just hearing his voice every now and then in the meeting room. I think it’s good.”

Ryan has been showing up to defensive meetings and has been more hands on with some of his players during minicamp.

“He’s been in our defensive meetings a little bit more so far,” Harris said. “It’s still the offseason but in our installs the last two weeks he’s been more hands on coaching little points here and there and asking guys if they understand it, younger guys. I think it’s going to be a plus for us.”

Ryan needs to make sure he understands everything that’s going on with his team, or else he’ll keep having problems with guys like Santonio Holmes who aren’t disciplined.

Rex Ryan has lost 90 pounds since his lap-band surgery (Pictures)

Above are two pictures of Jets head coach Rex Ryan. On the left is Ryan photographed at the team’s training center on May 4th. On the right is Ryan photographed during the team’s January 17 playoff game against the Chargers in 2010. While Ryan looks large and overweight in both photos, you may notice that he looks less obese in the one on the left. That’s because Ryan has...

Is Tony Sparano the key to the Jets success?

Tony Sparano and Rex Ryan The New York Jets 2012 off-season has received mixed reviews from fans and media alike. There were multiple needs that the New York Jets needed to address, some were and some weren’t. What was the biggest need that required attention? Well, in my opinion, it was Brian Schottenheimer, the awful offensive coordinator who’s play calling followed the...

Adam Schefter on Rex Ryan’s weight loss: ‘That’s skipping a lot of God damn snacks’ (Audio)

Rex Ryan has not been able to deliver a Super Bowl to New York despite having promised one for the past several seasons, but he has certainly accomplished a pretty lofty personal goal: Losing a ton of weight. As Adam Schefter informed us with a tweet earlier this week, Ryan has lost 90 pounds since undergoing lap-band surgery a little over a year ago. If you’re a fan of Rex...

Schefter on Rex Ryan’s weight loss: ‘That’s skipping a lot of god damn snacks’ (audio)

Ha freaking ha. And the best part of ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter’s semi-profane gaffe when he said “god damn” on ESPN’s airwaves? It was during a broadcast of Mike & Mike. Gold. Schefter was appearing on Mike & Mike to discuss the massive amount of weight New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan has [...]

A New Deal for Tom Coughlin in the Works?

It’s funny to go back to just two seasons ago and see how Rex Ryan was the toast of the town to the New York media and Tom Coughlin was old news and needed to be taken behind the barn and shot. Today? Well, Ryan is on the hot seat and Coughlin is rumored to be getting an extension after his second Super Bowl title in four years. At the Giants Super Bowl ring ceremony yesterday...

And here’s Adam Schefter cursing on Mike & Mike

Adam Schefter joined the boys this morning to discuss Rex Ryan losing 90 pounds since having lap band surgery. The boys throw it to Schefter for insight on Ryan’s surgery, which Schefter gives without a hiccup. But before ending his spiel, Schefter lets the audience know that “that’s skipping a lot of God d@#* snacks, if you know what I’m talking about.” From there, the...

QB Controversy Forced Jets To Reject Hard Knocks?

A few days ago the New York Jets decided not to work with HBO's "Hard Knocks" this season. Speculation has run rampant that the team was likely concerned about quarterback controversy and how the players would take the added pressure. There has been some discussion that Rex Ryan has already decided to switch to Tim Tebow as the starting quarterback and they want to...

Drew Gets Swaggy – KSK Kontent Klearinghouse

In making the most obvious joke possible about Rex Ryan losing 90 lbs., Adam Schefter kept the god damn in “god damn snacks” while on-air. My stars! Such ribaldry! Either it’s the best evidence yet that Schefter is not actually a cyborg or his makers have added a swearing patch in his latest “human colloquialisms” update. - On the outside chance you haven’t seen the...

How Simplifying the Offense Could Improve Running Game

Florham Park, N.J. - From the very second Tim Tebow was traded to the Jets the talk has been about how this Jets offense will change, but the majority of the focus has been on the change in the quarterback situation while the running game has become something of an afterthought. This won't be the case once we get closer to the start of the season and the conversation steers back...

Have the New York Jets already been Tebowed?

New York Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow has only been with the team for a short time, but he has already made a major impression on his teammates. Many tried to insinuate that he wouldn't be accepted by the majority of players when the deal went down, but from all accounts that couldn't be further from the truth. Darrelle Revis has called Tim Tebow a "born leader...

Santonio Holmes and Wayne Hunter have a clean slate

New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes and right tackle Wayne Hunter didn't have great seasons in 2011. It all blew up during the season finale against the Miami Dolphins, with Hunter and Holmes jawing at each other in the huddle. Holmes and Hunter have since moved on and have given each other a clean slate to work with. Plenty of New York Jets players could benefit from...
