Former Louisville running back Bilal Powell is off to best season in the NFL. In five games with the New York Jets, Powell is averaging 66 yards per contest and has rushed for a total of 253 yards in their last three games.
Powell was held to just 38-yards in last night’s 30-28 win over the Atlanta Falcons, but had a key six yard run at the very end of the game to set-up a 43-yard game winning field goal from Jets kicker Nick Folk.
Stats might not show it, but Powell has been one of the more valuable backs in the league this season. The former Cardinal is seventh in the league in missed tackles and is ranked ahead of guys like Maurice Jones Drew and Darren McFadden. In five games, Powell has had over 150-yards after contact, which ranks in the top ten in the NFL.
