Per source, Rob Gronkowski is done for the rest of the postseason.Re-injured forearm and needs another surgery. — ProFootballTalk (@ProFootballTalk) January 14, 2013 As the Patriots attempt to make a goal-line stand up three scores, word has filtered down that Rob Gronkowski has re-injured his left-forearm and will require another surgery on it, ending his season if it continues past today. The word is that Gronkowski re-broke it. Honestly, I think most Patriots’ fans saw this as the result after he landed on it after attempting to catch a ball in the first-quarter and falling right on it. He was in intense pain, came right to the sideline and was holding his surgically repaired left-wrist in obvious pain. When it happened, I wrote in my game-notes “Gronk looks done for the year” and it was pretty obvious. The Patriots tried hiding it with a “his return will be questionable” report, but I don’t think anyone was buying it. This sucks because Gronkowski is one of the best playmakers that the New England Patriots have. One thing in their advantage is that they have played a good chunk of the season without Rob Gronkowski and have designed game-plans not expecting him to be in the line-up. At the end of the day, it is still never a good idea to take a teams best play-maker out of the line-up. If the season continues, it just means that Wes Welker and Aaron Hernandez will continue to have to step up. Shane Vareen had a good day on Sunday too, causing match-up nightmares across the board for the Patriots. More updates if the Patriots win this game.

  • He landed on his left elbow/forearm but it didn't seem like it was that hard or awkward. After 7 or 8 weeks the bone should be healed up enough to withstand that. But I think he's so big and plays so hard that he's prone to these injuries. Most media outlets are saying he broke the forearm rather than the wrist cited above. Woodhead was the one who went out with the wrist injury.
