A fortuitous sign of things to come or another Bill Belichick classic media tweak?
Why not both.
The Patriots awarded Rob Gronkowski the black practice jersey, meaning that he was declared the Patriots practice player of the week. The New England Patriots re-tweeted this:
Gronk gets awarded the black jersey for being the best practice player of the week. BB and his subtlety. #Patriots
Gronk was instrumental in the Patriots' preparation for the Saints, as he was tasked with being the Jimmy Graham of the offense to help the defense prepare for the game last week. It obviously helped as the defense held Graham to zero receptions. Tom Brady praised Gronk after the game for his efforts in practice and the word from Patriot camp is that Gronk has been the best practice player on the team.

FOXBORO, Mass. — There were times through the first six weeks of the season when the 2013 Patriots resembled the 2001 to 2004 teams that brought three Super Bowls rings to New England.
The defense took charge, bailing out the offense on numerous occasions and Tom Brady played passable, but not like a superstar — though he did have two vintage fourth-quarter comebacks. Now that Rob...

New England cornerback Aqib Talib (hip injury) returned to practice on Friday after missing the first two sessions this week.Fantasy Spin:Talib isn't likely to be 100 percent by kickouff and the Pats may try to squeeze past the Jets without him. Given Bill Belichick's communication with the media, we probably won't know for sure until inactives are announced Sunday morning.
Rob Gronkowski’s status for Sunday’s game are still up in the air. He has been cleared to practice but according to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, Dr Andrews has not cleared him to play.
“I don’t understand why this story has gotten so much traction,” Rosenhaus told 560 WQAM-AM (via The Boston Globe). “There are dozens of players around the NFL who aren’t playing because...
