Word of where Wes Welker will end up by the beginning of next year has been all over the board this offseason, but one person hasn’t changed his stance: Patriots owner Robert Kraft. On the eve of the NFL free agency period, Kraft reiterated his support for Welker, saying again that he hopes the veteran receiver will be with New England a few more years. “I love Wes Welker,” Kraft said, according to ESPN. “I hope he remains a Patriot for life, just like Tom Brady.” Welker is considered likely to stay with the Patriots, although reports have surfaced that he wants to test the free agent market first. Free agency begins March 12. While Welker has been looking for a multiyear deal with the Patriots for several years, negotiations hit a hiccup last season, and he played under the franchise tag salary instead. This offseason, a new contract has been slow to come together, with the Patriots reportedly looking elsewhere and Welker also taking his time with negotiations.

Robert Kraft: “I love Wes Welker. I hope he remains a Patriot for life”

We are only hours away from the official start of NFL free agency, and rumors are abound as agents and organizations put out anonymous information to gauge interest from players and other teams. But some owners come out from behind the curtain to either try to either gain favor with the fan base, or to truly entice a free agent. The latter appears to be the case with New England...

Report: Wes Welker Has Drawn Interest From Dolphins During NFL Tampering Window

The Miami Dolphins went into 2012 barren at wide receiver. Chad Johnson couldn’t even make it through training camp and Brian Hartline did an admirable job during the season, but it was obvious Miami needed to upgrade the position. The Dolphins have already re-signed Hartline, they’re considered the front runners for Mike Wallace and now they’re interested in Wes Welker, according...

Report: Wes Welker deal with Patriots Nowhere close to being Done

Free agent wide receiver Wes Welker and the New England Patriots reportedly seem to be on two different pages when it comes to his value as a free agent. At 32, Wes Welker has thrived as a slot receiver in New England, totaling over 100 receptions 5 out of the last 6 seasons. But, at 5’9 and on the downside of his career when you historically look at receivers in their 30′s...

Patriots owner Robert Kraft on free agent-to-be Wes Welker: ‘We want him for life’

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft seems to understand the importance of keeping a guy like Wes Welker in the fold long-term.

So, apparently the Patriots haven't even made an offer to Welker yet

We've heard an awful lot of back and forth on this. Mainly it's been that Welker was mad that the Patriots "disrespected" him early in the season when they reduced his role. We also heard that he wanted to test free-agency. For the Patriots part, Robert Kraft's made it clear that he is all about Welker retiring as a Patriot. Of course, the whole time we'...
