So much for another showdown of quarterbacks. Aaron Rodgers was nearly flawless. Robert Griffin III still isn’t himself yet. And this game Rodgers even got a little help from the running game as the Green Bay Packers dominated the Washington Redskins 38-20. Green Bay bounced back from its loss at San Francisco with ease behind Rodgers' career day. Rodgers completed 34 of 42 passes for 480 yards four touchdowns and no interceptions. The 480 yards tie a franchise record (Matt Flynn 2011). Replacing Eddie Lacy (concussion) the bruising James Starks finished with 132 rushing yards and a touchdown. The rout was on early. In the first quarter --- on fourth and 3 --- Rodgers found Randall Cobb across the middle for a 35-yard touchdown to put Green Bay ahead 10-0. He laced a slant to Jordy Nelson inside DeAngelo Hall for a 14-yard touchdown on third and goal. Then to go ahead 24-0 Rodgers rolled right waited pumped pumped again to let Jermichael Finley find room and then placed a high touchdown to the tight end for a 3-yard score. None of this was much of a surprise. What was however was Starks’ breakout game. Once Lacy left — concussed from a Brandon Meriweather hit — Starks heated up. He dipped his shoulder to deliver a crushing blow to Meriweather himself on one 20-yard run. Leading with his helmet Meriweather suffered a concussion himself on the collision. In rhythm with his linemen Starks got to the second level often. All game Green Bay enjoyed balance for the first time in a long time. With a 32-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to give Green Bay a 38-7 lead Starks ended Green Bay’s streak of 44 regular-season games without a 100-yard rusher. The last player to do so was Brandon Jackson against Washington on Oct. 10 2010. Buried on the depth chart in training camp Starks played like a starter against Washington's defense.
