TEAMS: Washington Redskins

You may remember a story we published last week about how Washington Redskins running back Roy Helu Jr. expressed his desire to become a spokesman for Suave shampoo. You know, similar to the way Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu plugs Head & Shoulders. Well, as fate would have it, word has apparently gotten around to Suave, and they have offered Helu a free year's supply of Suave Men's products as a token of appreciation. Check out this tweet: We like the long ‘do, @royhelujr29! Keep it styling with 1 year of Suave Men product. It’s on us. Thx for the call-out to @dcsportsbog! — Suave Beauty (@SuaveBeauty) October 29, 2013 Now, it's not exactly the spokeperson position Helu was vying for, but I'm sure he will happily take the free shampoo as consolation. Chris Cooley, Albert Haynesworth and Mike Shanahan let Nasty Quotes fly

As most fans of the Washington Redskins already know, Albert Haynesworth is a sore subject at Redskins Park. The last few days the Haynesworth subject has been revisited since former tight end Chris Cooley called Albert “a piece of dump” on his daily radio show. “Every year, every team, someone signs a big contract and [...]

Redskins tight end admits players fall asleep during team meetings

(Dale Zanine-US PRESSWIRE) Sometimes when things go wrong, they go REALLY wrong. As is the case with the Washington Redskins. They’ve struggled throughout the season, posting a 2-5 record to this point and it’s not looking like they’ll get things turned around. The coaching staff is under scrutiny for the lack of effort on both sides of the ball, and aside from the aforementioned...

Albert Haynesworth fires back at ex-teammate Chris Cooley

Last week, Albert Haynesworth was scolded by former Washington Redskins teammate Chris Cooley when Cooley called Haynesworth an awful human being, among other disparaging things. On Wednesday, Haynesworth responded to Cooley's comments, and did so in part by saying Cooley "sounds as stupid as he looks," which are pretty harsh words, indeed. “If the guy had any...

Redskins TE Fred Davis Admits To Sleeping In Team Meetings

Fred Davis was the subject of some NFL trade deadline talks but ultimately ended up staying with the Redskins. Redskins’ Brandon Meriweather will not face any further disciplinary action

Washington Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather is quickly gaining a reputation as one of the dirtiest players in the National Football League. Meriweather could only watch Sunday as the Redskins lost 45-21 to the Denver Broncos while he served a one-game suspension. The league suspended Meriweather after multiple violations of player safety rules pertaining to helmet-to-helmet shots...

Team owner Daniel Snyder will reportedly meet with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell this week regarding Washington's nickname, the Redskins.

League, NFLPA talk to Meriweather

Brandon Meriweather was suspended by the NFL for too many hits to the head, so he publicly stated this week he'll start aiming for players' knees instead. The league and the NFL Players Association then reminded the Washington Redskins safety that's not acceptable, either. In a statement posted on the NFLPA's website, union executive director DeMaurice Smith said...

Thoughts and Observations from Mike Shanahan's return to Denver

Robert Griffin is right. The Washington Redskins aren't a 2-5 team.  That's not what they play like. Problem is, when you play like a team with no aspirations for the playoffs the first three weeks of the season, you don't get to shrug off those performances when negativity and criticism collide at Redskins park.  And the stigma of the beginning of the season: the...

DMV: Cooley Calls Haynesworth ‘A Piece Of Dump’

Chris Cooley with some *REAL TALK* for Fat Albert Haynesworth. [Bog] Dexter Manley called Troy Aikman a “queer” on air, and he’s sorry. [Bog] Shanahan says Meriweather learned lesson. Doesn’t sound like it. [Insider] Sounds like RGIII’s other knee is fine, despite a little scare. [The Insider] Numbers don’t lie: RGIII has a bit of a fumbling problem, damn it. [Bog] The...
