According to the New York Daily News, Mark Sanchez is “virtually guaranteed” to be back next season. Sanchez has not played well at all this season, but given his current group of receivers, not many would expect him to play well. It was thought by most pundits around the country that if Sanchez were to fail early in the season that Tim Tebow’s name would be called upon. This news may be confirmation that Sanchez is their quarterback and they’re sticking with him. There aren’t very many big named free agent quarterbacks out there for the Jets to go out and make a splash, but the Daily News points out Joe Flacco and Michael Vick as possible targets. The Ravens, barring a complete collapse, will likely franchise Flacco. The Eagles, on the other hand, look like they may be in complete rebuild mode after their tumultuous season. Vick has proven once again that he just can’t stay healthy for an entire season. Even when he is healthy it is hard to get consistency from him. If the Eagles were to part ways with Vick, there could be several suitors. The Jets have plenty of issues. They should probably address their wide receiving corps if they want to lure any decent NFL caliber quarterback.
