Broncos second-year DE Derek Wolfe was taken off the field in an ambulance during Saturday’s preseason game against the Seahawks.
Wolfe has reportedly passed a “battery of tests” including an MRI, X-rays, CT scan and all have come back negative. (Mike Klis)
HC John Fox mentioned that the ”…CT scan was positive and right now we’re waiting on an MRI so, so far all the news is good.” (Broncos)
The Broncos announced that Wolfe is being evaluated for a cervical spine injury, but has movement in all of his extremities.
Wolfe has involved in a play where he was being blocked both high and low. Wolfe remained down on the field for several minutes while the Broncos’ training staff attended to him.
Dolphins TE Dustin Keller took a major hit to his right knee during Saturday’s preseason game against the Texans.
Keller will have an MRI on his leg tomorrow, but “things look pretty grim” regarding his injured knee. (Ian Rapoport)
HC Joe Philbin mentioned that it’s too early to know Keller’s status. (Armando Salguero)
Dolphins players were reportedly talking about next man up in locker room. (Armando Salguero)
Texans rookie S D.J. Swearinger was the player who inflicted the hit upon Keller. You really have to feel Dustin seeing as he decided to play under a one-year contract with the Dolphins with the hope of securing a long-term deal next offseason.
Miami doesn’t have a lot of depth at tight end, so it will really be interesting to see what they elect to do now that Keller’s 2013 is in all likelihood over. Charles Clay and Michael Egnew figure to be the next guy up.
Titans WR Kendall Wright hurt his right knee injury during Saturday’s preseason game against the Bengals.
Wright mentioned that he’s pretty worried about his knee, as it’s currently stiff. Both Wright and the team are awaiting test results. (Jim Wyatt)
Wright limped off the field, but would later need to be carted to the locker room. There’s still a chance this could come back as a sprain without any ligament damage. Losing Wright would actually be a pretty big setback for the Titans offense as there has been a lot of buzz about him taking the next step this season.
Second-round pick Justin Hunter figures to see an ample amount of playing time should Wright be held out.
Jaguars QB Blaine Gabbert put together a pretty strong showing on Saturday against the Jets, but would be forced out of the game after spraining his right thumb.
Gabbert’s X-rays came back negative, but the team expects to reevaluate him on Sunday. (Jaguars)
“I just bumped thumbs a little bit on that last pass. We’ll know more tomorrow and move on from there,” said Gabbert, via Kimberly Jones.
Gabbert final numbers for the evening were: 13-of-16 for 163 yards and a touchdown.
His strong outing should give him the upper hand in the competition with Chad Henne, assuming of course that injury doesn’t force him out of action.
Texans first-round pick WR DeAndre Hopkins left Saturday’s preseason game against the Dolphins after he suffered a concussion.
Hopkins has been officially diagnosed with a concussion. (John McClain)
HC Gary Kubiak mentioned that Hopkins is “fine” and will go through the necessary protocol in the coming days. (John McClain)
While this doesn’t appear to be anything that cost Hopkins an extended period of time, there’s at least a decent chance that he could be held out of next week’s preseason game against the Saints.
Hopkins has already displayed some great ability during training camp and in the preseason, so we’re hoping to see him play a lot with the Texans first-team offense.
