The Seattle Seahawks officially downgraded wide receiver Percy Harvin to OUT against the Tampa Bay Bucs this weekend, according to NFL.com’s Dan Hanzus. This coming after the Seahawks playmaker experienced what is being referred to as a “flare-up” with his torn labrum last Thursday during practice. Harvin had returned to limited practice participation in anticipation for his season debut, but experienced minor discomfort in the area of his injury. It was reported by multiple outlets (including Harvin’s twitter account) that the dynamic receiver was on pace to play against the St. Louis Rams last week. Much to the dismay of fans in the Pacific Northwest, head coach Pete Carroll quickly nixed that idea as Seattle’s management clearly had no intentions of prematurely rushing their offseason centerpiece back to the field. The Seahawks then lost receiver Sidney Rice for the season with a torn ACL, unfortunately leaving Seattle’s passing game even more questionable heading forward in 2013. Luckily for the Seahawks, the “flare-up” that Harvin experienced has been dismissed as normal wear-and-tear brought on by his rigorous rehabilitation process. As a precautionary measure, Harvin underwent an MRI to identify any potential damage he may have done. There was no reported setback with his labrum injury according to head coach Pete Carroll meaning Harvin will continue working toward his eventual return to the field hopefully in time for a Seahawks playoff push this year. There is currently no exact timetable for his return.
