The fallout from the New Orleans Saints bounty program will most likely continue over the next several weeks and months, and two of the major figures in it, head coach Sean Payton, and General Manager Mickey Loomis, should be most concerned.
According to a report from Don Banks at Sports Illustrated, Loomis had full knowledge of the program, and lied to NFL as they investigated. Not only did Loomis deny any knowledge that the bounty program existed, but he also stated that he would put an end to it if it did. By knowing what was going on and lying about it, he embarrassed not only himself, but the Saints organization and most importantly, his boss, Saints owner Tom Benson. Not only did he bring shame to Benson and the Saints, he failed to carryout a direct order.
“When informed earlier this year of the new information, Mr. Benson advised league staff that he had directed his general manager, Mickey Loomis, to ensure that any bounty program be discontinued immediately. The e...

Don Banks of SI.com reports Saints general manager Mickey Loomis, according to the NFL's internal investigation and report, tried to cover up the existence of the team's bounty program, first denying any knowledge of it to the league when the NFL looked into the allegations in 2010, and then promising to dismantle and discontinue such a program if he found such evidence....
Mickey Loomis Wishes To Be Breesus’ Judas
Saints general manager Mickey Loomis was with the Saints for a few years before the coming of Breesus, so he knows a little something about the dark ages in New Orleans. If his negotiating tactics are any indication, he longs for a return to those benighted times, when Saints were Ain’ts and the laughingstocks flowed like wine.
While the Saints will retain Brees this year regardless...
Saints Nation: Mickey Loomis Mismanages Offseason
I'm ready to condemn Mickey Loomis with the official news that Drew Brees has been given the exclusive rights franchise tag. Tom Brady and Peyton Manning both had deals completed long before it ever got to this point with Brees. Mickey Loomis, pure and simple, has failed to do his job the smart way. Tagging Brees ensures he'll stay a Saint, mind you, but that's the absolute...
Mickey Loomis says he believes Drew Brees is “great”
It was reported on Thursday that New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis believes that quarterback Drew Brees is only a “very good” quarterback and not “great” one. That’s also reportedly why he’s not willing to pay him the money he’s looking to make as one of the NFL’s elite quarterback’s.
On Friday, Loomis made it clear that he considers Drew Brees...
Saints GM Mickey Loomis reportedly arguing Drew Brees is very good, not great
Any complications the Saints have in agreeing to a contract extension with Drew Brees should be minor. When you step back and analyze the situation, you have to wonder what the holdup is. Brees is not exactly young (33), but he’s at the peak of his game. He’s coming off a 46-touchdown season, which was his fourth straight year over 30 touchdown passes. He also brought a Super...

Embattled New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis called a Yahoo! Sports report that he considers Drew Brees to be very good but not great ridiculous. Before news of the bounty program with the Saints broke on Friday, one that very much involves Loomis, the GM told the New Orleans Times-Picayune that Brees is very respected as the team works to sign him to a long-term...

Ban the 'bounty' bums, but blame culture
Don't be shocked. Don't be surprised. Don't even ask how. Football, the false American dream, has struck again. That's all.

New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis took issue with a Yahoo! Sports report that he believed quarterback Drew Brees was "very good" - but not great.
Loomis told the New Orleans Times-Picayune that Brees is very much respected and that the team is working to sign him to a long-term contract prior to Monday's deadline.

Drew Brees Is Franchised By New Orleans And What It Means
After one of the most embarrassing days in franchise history and already in the midst of a tough negotiation with one of the greatest players to wear its uniform, the New Orleans Saints placed the exclusive-rights franchise tag on star quarterback Drew Brees late Saturday afternoon. This will bide the team some time as it seeks to work out a long-term deal with its record-breaking...
Saints offered Drew Brees around $18 million per year
Saints GM Mickey Loomis reportedly might not think Drew Brees is a “great” quarterback, but he’s certainly willing to pay him like one.
