Philly Sports Muse:
The question of how excited Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Mike Patterson was to return to practice on Monday didn’t even have to be asked. The smile radiating from his face told you the answer.Though he’s not sure when he’ll return to football shape or if he’ll ultimately be cleared to play this season, Patterson was thrilled to be back at practice with his teammates, saying, “Everything felt good though. I feel real good out there, running around.”Patterson has not yet been cleared for contact. His progress will be monitored closely by Andy Reid and head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder, but he knows that things will be taken slowly.“I’m not in the rotation right now, so like I said, they’re just going to take it slow. We’re going to see how things work out. The big man [head coach Andy Reid], he’s just not in a rush to get me out there and risk anything. So, [they’re] just kind of looking at me.The return to practice sounded like the first day of school for Patterson–a com

Photo: Daily News via Philly.comThe Philadelphia Eagles are 3-3 and in the midst of their bye week. Michael Vick can’t stop turning the ball over. The offensive line has been brutal. The offense in general can’t score points. Reid and Mornhinweg can’t or won’t adjust their play-calling to overcome and/or reduce the offense’s shortcomings. The defense has collapsed...
Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham indicated that the team firing coach Juan Castillo was a necessary move based on some of his in-game coaching strategies.
Without a doubt the Philadelphia Eagles are the most desperate 3-3 team the NFL has seen in recent memory. From QB turnovers to coaching turmoil, this Eagles team seems to be one bad outing away from a serious shakeup that could include the firing of head coach Andy Reid and or benching of quarterback Michael Vick. It’s a volatile situation that has clearly fallen on the...
This week is going to be, to put it mildly, interesting.
The Eagles are coming off a bye week in which Andy Reid replaced his DC and there are widespread rumors of problems in the entire front office.
The Falcons, also coming off a bye, are the only remaining undefeated team.
Andy Reid has never lost the game the week after the bye, including the infamously disastrous 2005 season...
FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. Since the Philadelphia Eagles traded him to the Atlanta Falcons in the offseason, four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Asante Samuel has, at times, taken personally comments attributed to Eagles coach Andy Reid about him and struck back.
With the teams set to meet Sunday in Philadelphia, Reid set the record straight in a conference call with Atlanta media. Of particular...

He was able to admit that mistake and he fired Castillo not because he was doing a bad job, but because he had an experienced and prepared coach...
Linebacker Casey Matthews hinted at what he thought of Juan Castillo’s coaching when he summed up the first meeting of the Philadelphia Eagle defense in the Todd Bowles era on Monday: “We’re not going to be predictable anymore.”
Brandon Graham took those comments further on Wednesday by blaming Castillo for the Eagles defensive woes in the games of which he presided. Graham...
The Bye Week break is behind us now.
I don't expect a miracle comeback by Mike Patterson or Jason Peters. I don't know how the heck Terrell Suggs pulled off a 6-month rehab from Achilles tendon reconstruction surgery...but I don't think anything like that is going to happen here.
The Eagles are 3-3...with more questions than answers.
This is gut-check time...
IRONIC ending to Vick’s career? Eagles/Falcons
Coming out of the bye-week the Eagles under Andy Reid have yet to lose a game. This week, the task of keeping that record in tact might be the most difficult of the Andy Reid era. The 6-0 Atlanta Falcons possibly the best team in football are in town, led by Matt Ryan and BIG receivers. Roddy White, Julio Jones, Tony Gonzalez, containing...
Since the firing of former Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Juan Castillo last week, we’ve been waiting for the corresponding shoe to drop on offense.
After head coach Andy Reid’s pronouncement that Mike Vick would remain his starting quarterback and that Marty Morhinweg would continue to call plays on offense, we knew that no sizable change were coming on that side...
