Pro Sports Daily:
The New York Jets are showing interest in an old favorite free-agent kickoff returner Leon Washington a league source confirmed. Washington released by the New England Patriots in the final cut-down also has drawn interest from the Giants. He worked out for them Tuesday.
After cutting Joe McKnight whom they drafted in 2010 to replace Washington the Jets may be looking for a new kickoff returner. Right now the job probably belongs to Clyde Gates. Washington 31 made the Pro Bowl last season with a 29.0 average and one touchdown. He also could be a change-of-back back and a strong locker-room presence. The Jets have three backs on the roster plus the suspended Mike Goodson.
General manager John Idzik was a Seahawks executive during Washington's three-year run in Seattle. The Jets could wait until after Week 1 to make a move on Washington. As a vested veteran his salary wouldn't be guaranteed if he signs after the first game.
BEST OF MAXIM
The are many question marks surrounding the New York Jets football team this season. It is a huge year for Rex Ryan if he plans on being the Jets head coach next season.
Both quarterbacks must minimize turnovers if the Jets are going to be successful on offense this year.
On offense this year, the Jets will struggle to score points. Geno Smith and Mark Sanchez will have a tough time...
After it topped the “Not Top 10″ for 40 straight weeks, ESPN will retire Mark Sanchez’ infamous “buttfumble.” Que the jokes about ESPN not covering something about the Jets. Here is their quote:
There will be comfort for Sanchez in knowing that the “Butt Fumble” – the Nov. 22, 2012 play in which he stumbled into the backside of offensive lineman Brandon Moore, fumbled...
It’s the end of an era for the relationship between Mark Sanchez and Brandon Moore‘s butt.
The highlight (or lowlight, depending on how you look at it) of the Jets quarterback dropping the football ball after running into Moore’s backside has held the No. 1 spot SportsCenter’s “Not Top 10: Worst of the Worst” countdown for 40 straight weeks, and ESPN announced it is...
Well, this would be one way to make the Mark Sanchez troubles in New York go away.
The Jets have announced that rookie Geno Smith will be the starting quarterback for this Sunday’s season opener against the Buccaneers, a default decision due to Sanchez injuring his shoulder in a preseason game. Sanchez won’t be back for several weeks at least, leaving Smith with the job, no matter...

New England Patriots wide receiver, Danny Amendola, is known
more to be like Elijah Price than David Dunn.
Therefore, it is no surprise that even in Week 1, Amendola is listed on
the Patriots’ injury report. However, looks can be deceiving.
Alper of NBCSports reports that Amendola, who signed with the Patriots in
the offseason, is listed on the Patriots’ injury report...
It’s been a while since tight end Rob Gronkowski spoke to the media and on Wednesday the Patriots’ big man said all the right things.
Gronk, who has been practicing with his teammates this week in preparation for the Week 1 opener in Buffalo, isn’t expected to play until at least Week 3. That doesn’t mean he isn’t improving both mentally and physically, according to...
After an up and down preseason, rookie signal-caller Geno Smith was handed the starting job in light of Mark Sanchez's shoulder injury. Find out what the Jets' GM had to say about his young gunslinger's never-say-die attitude.
On a team which has become an offensive trainwreck this offseason, the New York Jets named rookie QB Geno Smith the starter this afternoon while naming RB Bilal Powell the starting running back. Offensive weapons are hard to find on the Jets roster this offseason and the franchise had high hopes for free agent acquisition Chris Ivory. Ivory has dealt with yet again, more injury issues...
