The Football Fan Spot:
St. Louis Rams (1-0) at Atlanta Falcons (0-1)
The Falcons lost last week in New Orleans, but now they return home where it’s always been a different story for the Falcons under Matt Ryan. Matt Ryan is 33-7 at home in his career and 24-15 ATS and 21-12 ATS as home favorites. Matt Ryan is also great off a loss, going 17-4 ATS in his career off of a loss. Given that, it’s kind of absurd this line is only -6.
I agree that the Falcons won’t have nearly as good of a record as last season. The Falcons’ 13 wins last year were done largely with smoke and mirrors and in a way that won’t be sustainable into 2013. 7 of those 13 wins came by a touchdown or less as they went 7-2 in games decided by a touchdown or less, something that tends to even out in the long run. It’s also unlikely that the Falcons recover 64.3% of fumbles that hit the ground this season. The Falcons also face a tougher schedule in 2013. In 2012, the Falcons faced just 2 playoff teams in the regular season. That’ll be imposs...
BEST OF MAXIM
Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones was the best player on the field, catching 11 passes for 182 yards and a touchdown. Atlanta turned in the drive it needed to clinch it, throwing on eight straight plays before Snelling's TD run.
One after another, a steady line of injured players made their way to the Falcons locker room.
Fortunately for Atlanta, Julio Jones and Matt Ryan were not among them.
Jones hauled in 11 passes for 182 yards, including an 81-yard touchdown, and the Atlanta Falcons held on for their first win of the season, 31-24 over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday.
Ryan threw for 374 yards and two...
ATLANTA Steven Jackson's revenge date against the Rams lasted all of one series, four touches and eight yards on Sunday.
But shoot, if he didn't make the most of the unwitting cameo.
Facing his old team of nine seasons and making his Atlanta home debut, Jackson didn't earn a single rushing yard against the Rams (on three carries), but his 8-yard reception produced...
Steven Jackson’s revenge was short and sweet and sour. The 10-year veteran, who had spent his entire career with the St. Louis Rams as the face of the franchise, was fired up before the game and ready to show everyone that there was still a lot of tread left on his tires. In the beginning, he proved his point with an 8-yard reception where he steamrolled into the end zone, diving...
Atlanta Falcons receivers Julio Jones and Roddy White are expected to play against the Rams on Sunday, albeit being listed as questionable according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Jones is dealing with a hamstring injury while White is dealing with an ankle injury. Week One, Jones caught seven passes for 76 yards and a touchdown. White only had two catches for 19 yards, his lowest...

After a week 1 victory, many St. Louis Rams are feeling optimistic about their team. Some may even go far and predict the Rams will be making a playoff push. After grinding out a win against the Arizona Cardinals, the Rams have shown they are an improved team, but their record at the end of the season may prove otherwise.
It is a long season...
The St. Louis Rams fell way behind early against Steven Jackson and the Atlanta Falcons thanks to a Sam Bradford interception that was returned for a touchdown and some very good Atlanta offense. The Rams offensive play-calling and game plan also was a bit mystifying too as a bevy of short passes.
Another mystifying move was the decision not to even dress fifth round draft pick,...
The St. Louis Rams were really rolling by the second half.
If only the hole before halftime wasn't so deep.
Sam Bradford threw for 352 yards and three touchdowns, but the Rams came up short in their bid to start a season 2-0 for the first time in a dozen years, falling to the Atlanta Falcons 31-24 on Sunday.
The Rams (1-1) fell behind 21-0 by early in the second quarter, and...
