The Sunday night game features one of my favorite rivalries in sports in the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Unfortunately in this one, it is not going to be “what it could be” as the Steelers super star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will be watching the game from the sidelines in this one. In gambling, quarterbacks are the main position that moves the betting line. Simply put, the better the quarterback, the more the line moves. When the game opened up, the Steelers were favored by 3.5 points. Since Big Ben will be out, the road team Ravens are now favored by 3.5 – a very significant shift. These games are always decided by less than a touchdown, as both teams play physical, tough, defensive football. The big story line in this game will be whether backup quarterback Byron Leftwich can manage the game, and put the Steelers in position to win. The Steelers have always been a team that rises to occasion when one of their players goes down. The “next man up” has been a ...

NFL AM host: Ben Roethlisberger fears that he may die in his sleep

The headline is a bit of sensationalism, I’ll admit, but I’m not the one who said it. This morning on the NFL Network’s NFL AM broadcast the reference to the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback started by exclaiming that “Ben Roethlisberger quickly went from hoping he could play Sunday against the Ravens to hoping he wouldn’t die in his sleep.” …

GIF: Byron Leftwich outruns Ravens for 31-yard TD

Tweet Pittsburgh Steelers back up quarterback Byron Leftwich isn’t exactly known as the fastest QB in the league. He’s actually one of the slowest. That didn’t stop Leftwich from scampering by the Baltimore Ravens defense for a 31-yard touchdown in the first quarter of their matchup Sunday night: Leftwich’s previous longest run from scrimmage was [...]

Hines Ward doesn’t believe the Steelers can win without Ben Roethlisberger

Pro Football Talk co-host Erik Kuselias asked NBC Sports analyst and former Steelers wide receiver Hines Ward how his former team will do on Sunday night without Ben Roethlisberger starting. “Not very well for the Pittsburgh Steelers,” said Ward, per ProFootballTalk.com.  “Going out there, they’ve got to have Ben on the field.  One thing about him, to be able to extend...

Ravens beat Steelers, 13-10, despite valiant effort by Byron Leftwich...

Byron played his heart (and his right rib cage) out in this one, but the Baltimore defense prevailed...           When the Ravens won here last year, Joe Flacco threw a game-winning, 26-yard TD pass to Torrey Smith with eight seconds on the clock. This time? "We won by taking a safe sack," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said inside...

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is hopeful he can return from his rib and shoulder injury Dec. 2 against the Baltimore Ravens.  But Steelers doctors believe he will likely miss three weeks, reports Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter of ESPN. Roethlisberger has been ruled out to play Sunday night against the Ravens and isn't expected to play next sunday at...

Steelers Offense Never Had Any Short Fields To Work With Against Ravens

Prior to the game Sunday night I wrote about how the Pittsburgh Steelers offense would need a few short fields to work with in order to beat the Baltimore Ravens. Those short fields never materialized. Whether it be by turnover or by return, the offense was going to need help as I knew it would be asking too much to continually to expect quarterback Byron Leftwich to drive long...

Boss Todd Has Got This Figured Out

Todd Haley: Oh, so this is how it’s gonna be, is it? Moping around like a bunch of bar flies after all the good tail got claimed for the night. You ******* are harshing Boss Todd’s buzz. What is it? You’re down because we lost our walking assault charge? Listen, f*ckstains. We’re more than one man. We’re a system. A brilliant system of my design. If anything, losing Pig...

Ravens Outlast Resilient Steelers 13-10

Most Steelers fans weren't giving the team a shot during the first of two bouts against the Baltimore Ravens in the next 3 weeks. The Steelers were without 3 Pro Bowlers: Ben Roethlsiberger, Troy Polamalu and Antonio Brown. The Ravens were coming off a dynamite performance last week and have a healthy Joe Flacco/Ray Rice combination that has given the Steelers fits. Pittsburgh...

NFL Week 11 Fantasy Football Injury Update: Pittsburgh Steelers Rashard Mendenhall

The Pittsburgh Steelers will be hosting their divisional opponent, the Baltimore Ravens this evening. The Steelers are going to be without starting QB Ben Roethlisberger but they will see one of their offensive playmakers return this week, RB Rashard Mendenhall. Roethlisberger suffered a serious shoulder/rib injury last Monday night in a game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The running...
