San Francisco 49ers
The Houston Texans opened their preseason home debut against the San Francisco 49ers which was considered a good barometer to see where they are in terms of progress this year. The 49ers are a big physical team with the same offensive philosophy as the Texans as a run heavy team, and a team that runs a stout 3-4 defense ranking ahead of the Texans against the run. This was one of the stingiest defenses in the red zone and they proved that Saturday. The Texans went into the game ready for a scrap and came out of the battle on the gridiron with a 20-9 victory over the 49ers. Here is the breakdown and summary.
Final Score: Texans 20, 49ers 9
Texans Preseason Record: 2-0
Texans Game Summary:
Total Yards: 279
Pass Yards: 160
Rush Yards: 119

Houston Texans running back Arian Foster cuts a bedtime story short so he can watch Monday Night Football in a new ESPN commercial.
As the commercial cuts to a young girl's bedroom, Foster reads "And the princess says 'Never Mind', and that's the end." before quickly closing the book and shutting off the light.
Naturally the young girl feels cheated...
Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub looked very good in the team's preseason game Saturday against the 49ers, completing 11-of-14 for 128 yards and a touchdown.
Schaub is an injury risk but if he plays a full season like he did in 2009 and 2010 hes a near-lock to post top-10 quarterback numbers, even if the Texans are likely to favor the running game.

Last night, San Francisco 49ers running back Brandon Jacobs' knee injury looked bad, real bad, season-ending bad. Torn ACL, MCL, you name it, it's gotta something bad like that, right?
But wait, there's hope on the horizon. X-rays have come back negative, showing his ACL and patellar tendon are still intact. He's scheduled for an MRI today.
Sure, he'll miss...
Jim Harbaugh, coach of the San Francisco 49ers, is the next NFL affiliate who has publicly bash the replacement refs.
The NFL has issued “talking points” to coaches and players when speaking on the ongoing dispute between the NFL and the NFL referees, but when bad officiating overwhelms you, those “talking points” go out the window.
When first asked about the replacements...
Brandon Jacobs was carried off the field after what appeared to be a significant knee injury against the Texans on Saturday night. Jacobs, a former Super Bowl champion with the New York Giants, rushed for 31 yards on just four carries in the 49ers week one matchup against the Vikings.
The 49ers have not released an injury update on Jacobs, but it is likely that the bruising back...
Which way does the thumb turn for the 49ers after their 20-9 exhibition loss to the Houston Texans, including barreling Frank Gore, two newcomer RBs carted away, David Akers’ magical left leg, Colin Kaepernick’s scattershot passes, a nasty rushing defense, Tramaine Brock’s rough night, A.J. Jenkins jetting behind the secondary, QB Josh Johnson, LB Eric Bakhtiari and much more? Check inside.
