The Steelers did something that doesn't happen often in Pittsburgh, they missed the playoffs.  They've made some changes on offense, will they be enough to move forward? After postings a record of 164-92 last season, I'm ready to breakthrough to 70% this season. We've started off on the right foot by getting the Broncos game right. Here's a look at Week 1. Vikings @ Lions - Detroit wins.  This game will give fans for both teams a great picture for their season.  Can the Lions defense stop AP?  Will AP have a great start on 2,500 yards? Seahawks @ Panthers - Seattle goes on the road and starts their run at the playoffs with a win.  Cam Newton needs to prove that he can lead his team to compete against the NFL elite. Patriots @ Bills - EJ Manual makes his debut against the greatest coach in NFL history.  I don't think this is going to go well in Buffalo.  Pats win. Bengals @ Bears - The Bengals want to prove they are legitimate.  ...

Dick LeBeau Says He Doesn’t Have Many Defenses For Troy Polamalu In His Playbook

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu appears to be the healthiest he's been in several seasons, and the team will need him to remain that way in 2013 if they expect to make a run at a seventh Lombardi Trophy. With that being said, defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau said Thursday during his talk with the media that just because Polamalu is in the lineup, it doesn't mean...

So Far, So Good for Pittsburgh Steelers 2013 Draft Class

The Pittsburgh Steelers are expecting tangible contributions from their newest draft class as they embark on the 2013 season. That’s something that was missing in 2011 and 2012, when they followed a one-and-done playoff showing by missing the playoffs altogether. It’s still too early to really assess the Steelers’ 2013 draft. These guys need to play in real football games....

Pittsburgh Steelers: What does the future hold?

Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu entering the field (photo credit: Charles LeClaire/USA Today Sports) The Pittsburgh Steelers begin their season this Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. The preseason was very disappointing for the Steelers so it’s not much of a stretch to say that the same is to be said for the regular season. This season is poised to be a long and hard...

Tomlin unfollows released Steelers

Mike Tomlin is a no nonsense head coach and likes to keep things simple. Tomlin finally joined Twitter nation earlier this summer, and The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review notes that Tomlin follows a strict 53-man roster on Twitter. When the Steelers trimmed down their roster down from 75 players to 53 over the weekend, Tomlin also cut those players from his Twitter follow list. Most...

NT Steve McLendon looks to make his own mark in the middle of Steelers defense

Pittsburgh Steelers nose tackle Steve McLendon worked his way to the starting job after being behind Casey Hampton over the past three years. However, he will be the man in the middle and he must show he can be a full time player.

Cold Blooded: Mike Tomlin Unfollows the Cut Steeler Players

Mike Tomlin didn’t join all that long ago, but has already figured out how to use the Social Network in all it’s glory.  I will go through my Twitter feed sometimes and just start purging out these accounts that I am sick of seeing on my timeline.  Mike Tomlin did it to the players that the Steelers cut off the team!  It already sucks enough to be cut off a NFL team, but to...

The Story Of Guy Whimper

By Matthew Marczi With a few days now gone by since the final 53-man roster was first tallied and the Pittsburgh Steelers seemingly done making roster moves, it certainly appears that journeyman offensive lineman Guy Whimper is here to stay, at least for now. So what exactly does that mean for the 2013 season? As it currently stands, it should mean virtually nothing, barring injury...

Steelers’ Injury Report: Le’Veon Bell, Jarvis Jones, Heath Miller

The Pittsburgh Steelers host the Tennessee Titans Sunday afternoon.  Who is in?  Who is out?  Find out, in your Pittsburgh Steelers Week 1 injury report. The Steelers have two of their top rookies on the report this week and that is a little troubling.  Rookie running back Le’Veon Bell (foot) has been battling injuries all preseason and is out for the home opener.  Bell...

Three Questions With…. @SportsMel

After a brief hiatus, I’m back with my feature ‘Three Questions With….’ which is an opportunity for me to ask journalists, draft gurus, radio personalities and a variety of fans questions about the Pittsburgh Steelers. Today’s guest is a long-time follower of mine on Twitter (and I of her) who can hold her own in any sports-related discussion and especially about the Steelers...

Week One: Steelers Host Tennessee

The Steelers and Titans get it kicked off at 1pm in the Steel City. Both teams enter with high hopes and know that a win is but a simple step to a greater goal while a loss is a monster step backwards. Key Injuries Tennessee – LB Xavier Gooden is out and RB Quinn Johnson is doubtful. LB Akeem Ayres is questionable but did practice this week. Pittsburgh – LB Jarvis Jones and FB...

Loss Of Will Johnson Could Result In More 12 Personnel Groupings Against Titans

The season is not getting off to a good start for Pittsburgh Steelers fullback Will Johnson, who will more than likely sit out the Sunday season opener at Heinz Field against the Tennessee Titans with a hamstring injury that he suffered in the preseason finale against the Carolina Panthers. With Will Johnson likely to be sidelined, the Steelers might very well use a fullback by committee...

Week 1: The Pittsburgh Steelers face fans, critics, and the Tennessee Titans
