On this day in 1969 The Manning dynasty begins. College Football Hall of Famer Archie Manning became the first player in college football history to throw for 300 yards and rush for 100 yards in the same game as Ole Miss faced No. 15 Alabama in Birmingham, Alabama. Manning passed for 436 yards and two touchdowns while adding 104 rushing yards and three additional scores. Alabama, however, won the game 33-32 capped by a 15-yard touchdown pass on fourth down with 3:42 remaining from quarterback Scott Hunter to wide receiver George Ranager. In a sense, Manning invented the term “dual-threat quarterback,” or at least innovated it. The closest Eli Manning ever came to this mark came in 2002 win against Vanderbilt when Eli passed for 386 yards and ran for ten. I did not dig deep enough to go through Peyton Manning’s game log while at Tennessee but his collegiate career high in rushing for an entire season was six yards in 1995. I can’t imagine he came much closer than Eli did. Source...

New York Giants: The Best In The NFC East?

I have to give credit to Eli Manning and his great play in the fourth quarter against the Cardinals on Sunday. I have been extremely critical of Eli since he came into the league in 2004. Last Sunday, (in the same arena where Eli won a Super bowl) a certain magic reinserted into the signal caller for the New York Giants. Eli Manning threw for 321 yards without throwing a single...

Eli makes sure to take advantage of break

Eli Manning acknowledged the Giants "got a break'' when officials ruled that an apparent crucial fumble by Victor Cruz wasn't a fumble after all.

Giants Finish Cardinals

The Giants beat the Cardinals Sunday with a fantastic 4th quarter comeback.  Eli Manning was again efficient in the second half, and superb in the 4th quarter.  Eli is 32-40 for 415 yards, 4TD’s and no INT’s in the second half of games in the past … [visit site to read more]Giants Finish Cardinals - GMEN HQ - GMEN HQ - A NY Giants Blog

Looks as if Chiefs will see Painter at QB for Colts

Kind of odd watching the Colts play the other night without Peyton Manning at quarterback. But he's out, and apparently Kerry Collins still is, too.

Are the Tennessee Titans quietly getting into the playoff mix in the AFC South?

The benchmark playoff representative from the AFC South for the past decade has been the Indianapolis Colts. The Colts won’t be going to the playoffs this season unless they buy tickets. Once it was announced that Colts QB Peyton Manning was going to miss games this season, the Houston Texans became the trendy pick, but perhaps a darkhorse team is emerging in the AFC...

Bondy: Eli still ain't Brady, but he's OK

Eli Manning isn't perfect, still not quite Tom Brady. There are wayward passes and there was a devastating fumble against the Cards. But he's distributing the ball nicely to his receivers despite the lack of a real running game. He managed two comeback drives and delivered on that 29-yard fade to Hakeem Nicks for the winner.

Colts ready to face improved Buccaneers

TAMPA, FLA. (AP) - The Indianapolis Colts are finding it every bit as difficult to win without Peyton Manning as they suspected it might be.Still, star defensive Dwight Freeney says that doesn't mean the team doesn't expect to successful."No team that's 0-3 is in a great mood. But it's not ...

A Thrilling End to a Messy Game

The Giants scored three times in the fourth quarter to overcome a 10-point deficit vs the Arizona Cardinals this afternoon in Glendale, winning in thrilling fashion, 31-27. The Giants were aided by a late-game call by the officials in which they deemed WR Victor Cruz had given himself up after catching an Eli Manning pass. Cruz actually stumbled and fell to the ground untouched...

Giants “Finish” Off Cards For Third Straight Win

Nicks scored the winning TD yesterday by Jon Wagner “We just kept playing. We hung in there. We found a way to finish. We won the fourth quarter again, which we absolutely had to do” – head coach Tom Coughlin after the Giants’ win in Arizona yesterday. Four seasons ago, quarterback Eli Manning and the New York Giants got the biggest fourth-quarter touchdown a team could possibly...

Giants nearly give it away, beat Cards 31-27

It took almost the entire game for the Giants to rediscover the momentum that they thought they carried with them from their win in Philadelphia last week. But they did it just in time. The Giants scored 21 points in a remarkable fourth quarter, including a 29-yard touchdown pass from Eli Manning to Hakeem Nicks with 2:39 remaining, to escape Arizona with a 31-27 win.
