The NFL Network’s “Top 100 Players of 2013″ came to a close Thursday with the announcement of the top 10 players in the league, which included New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady at No. 4. The top-ranked player on the list, which is voted on by NFL players, was Vikings running back Adrian Peterson. He was followed by Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning and Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson. It’s hard to argue with the ranking of Peterson at No. 1 after he rushed for 2,097 yards and 12 touchdowns last season, but picks 2-100 are a different story. Patriots fans will probably be most upset with Manning being ranked ahead of Brady, and it will undoubtedly give new life to the debate over who is better. The rest of the top 10 goes in this order: No. 5 J.J. Watt, No. 6 Aaron Rodgers, No. 7 Aldon Smith, No. 8 Arian Foster, No. 9 Von Miller and No. 10 Patrick Willis. Brady isn’t the only Patriots player on the list, though, as he is joined by Rob Gronkowski (No. 25), Vince Wilfork (...

Vikings RB Adrian Peterson was asked by Lions defense what he was “juicing on”

Tweet Adrian Peterson had one of the most remarkable seasons for a running back in NFL history in 2012 for the Vikings. After coming back way quicker than expected, Peterson finished just eight yard shorts of Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record. Peterson’s season was truly a miracle. Apparently it was a little too miraculous for [...]

Jim Kelly says the Patriots are vulnerable, Aaron Hernandez was stupid

Former Buffalo Bills quarterback Jim Kelly told the NFL Network that he doesn’t feel sorry for the Patriots now that they were forced to release tight end Aaron Hernandez after he was arrested for murder on Wednesday. “I don’t really feel too sorry for them,” Kelly said, via the Buffalo News, “because sooner or late the Bills got to rise to the top, and if we have to take...

Aaron Hernandez Arrest Latest Blow For Tom Brady, Patriots Offense

Aaron Hernandez was cuffed this morning and then cut by the Patriots. Tom Brady must now try to rebuild an offense that has suffered more attrition this off-season than a front-line trench warfare infantry outfit in World War I.

Pats offer free No. 81 jersey swaps

The New England Patriots have had a reputation throughout the Bill Belichick-Tom Brady era for valuing character as much as actual talent, but that reputation has taken a serious hit lately. The murder charge levied against Aaron Hernandez in the slaying of Odin Lloyd and subsequent revelation that the ex-Patriots tight end also reportedly is being investigated in a 2012 double...

What's Next for the Patriots at Tight End?

Tom Brady will enter 2013 without his top five receivers from a year ago: Wes Welker, Brandon Lloyd, Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez and Danny Woodhead.  In my years of covering the NFL, I’ve never seen a team go through much adversity in just a matter of one offseason.  The adversity certainly doesn’t just fall directly on New England’s passing game, but the tight end position...

Judge denies Aaron Hernandez’s request for bail

Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez’s request for bail Thursday was denied, one day after he was charged with first-degree murder and five gun-related charges in the shooting death of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd. Hernandez’s lawyer James Sultan argued that his client should have been freed on bail because he was not at risk to flee and the case against him is...

Should trick plays be used more in the NFL?

Trick plays at the NFL level is often a mixed bag of tricks. When they're used properly, a team can be on the receiving end of very easy points. If they're not executed correctly, they can easily turn into disasters. With Denard Robinson listed as an "offensive weapon," I wondered, are trick plays a good idea in the NFL? The short and simple answer, in my belief...

Patriots still top dog in AFC East

With news that Aaron Hernandez was finally arrested today in conjunction with the murder of Odin Lloyd, the outlook changes for both our fantasy football tight end rankings and for the offense of the New England Patriots. But there still isn’t anyone in the AFC East that is going to be able to dethrone Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and crew. Yes, Wes Welker is in Denver, Rob Gronkowski...
