Jim Irsay and Peyton Manning‘s relationship has hit a bit of a rough patch as of late, but the harsh words and criticism are just masking what the Colts owner really feels — Manning’s the one that got away. At least according to one former Indianapolis player, that is. Tommie Harris was only a part of the team during training camp in 2011, but the defensive tackle believes his short stint in Indy allowed him to understand what’s really going on between the two. While Irsay and Broncos head coach John Fox continue to duke it out in advance of Manning’s return to Indianapolis on Sunday night, Harris added an interesting twist to the drama: he believes Irsay’s comments are coming across like a boyfriend who regrets breaking up with his ex-girlfriend. “I had a chance to be under Jim Irsay when I was with the Colts, and I’ve got to say he was quite different, a different owner,” Harris said on the NFL Network via “You know how that ugly girlfriend, she kind of goes aw

NFL Week 7: Manning Returns to Indy

Seattle 34 Arizona 22 - Well, yesterday I told you I liked the Arizona Cardinals to cover the 6.5-point spread and the under of 40 against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football.  I went full Brittany Spears on that one because oops, I did it again.  Seattle smashed Arizona quarterback Carson Palmer and the Cardinals, 34-22.  Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson with...

Manning's 17-game streak might not be his greatest

It took Peyton Manning two seasons to turn the floundering Colts into a playoff team and not much longer to make them a perennial Super Bowl contender. He kept Indy's title hopes alive through good times and bad, with makeshift offenses and teams dotted with Pro Bowlers. So when the only four-time MVP in league history was released by Indianapolis in March 2012, he went to Denver...

Tommie Harris: Jim Irsay treats Peyton Manning like an ex-girlfriend

Former NFL defensive tackle Tommie Harris had a brief stint with Colts and claims that owner Jim Irsay is treating Peyton Manning like an ex-girlfriend. “I had a chance to be under Jim Irsay when I was with the Colts, and I’ve got to say he was quite different, a different owner,” Harris said on the NFL Network via “You know how that ugly girlfriend,...

Jim Irsay Owes Peyton Manning Some Respect!

“The Return of Peyton Manning to Indianapolis” story that will eat up the media coverage until the game on Sunday Night Football has taken a sour, snippy, soap-opera turn and before it gets better, Jim Irsay has to inset his foot into his mouth. It’s on. It’s sooooooo on now! We still have four days until Peyton Manning will return to his original NFL home as a horse of a...

Indy veterans hope to slow down Manning's Broncos

Robert Mathis and Reggie Wayne have seen Peyton Manning's high-flying act. As longtime teammates, they played a part in Manning's gaudy stats, record-breaking quests and even the distracting pursuits of perfection. This week, as outsiders, they will put all that inside knowledge to use as Andrew Luck and the Colts try to derail Manning and the unbeaten Broncos. '&...

Bill Polian hits back at Jim Irsay over Manning slight

Former Indianapolis Colts general manager Bill Polian fired back at owner Jim Irsay on Wednesday after the Colts owner disparaged the 14-season Manning-Polian era for producing just one Super Bowl title. Polian proudly defended his and — Peyton Manning's record the Super Bowl XLI championship 11 playoff appearances and two AFC championships. "We never lost to Baltimore...

Todd Helton Says Jim Irsay ‘Just Wants to Be Famous,’ Hopes Peyton Manning ‘Steps on Throat’ (Video)

Someone from outside the football world weighed in on the supposed Jim Irsay-Peyton Manning feud on Thursday, and he was in no way kind to the Colts owner. Recently retired Rockies first baseman Todd Helton, a former college teammate and longtime friend of Manning’s, said on’s The Press Box that he hopes the quarterback crushes the Colts this weekend in his first...

Bill Polian ticked at Jim Irsay for disparaging Colts defense

Former Indianapolis Colts President Bill Polian seems furious with team owner Jim Irsay for disparaging the Colts’ defense and special teams as a way to backtrack from his “cheap shot” at Peyton Manning. In an interview with USA Today, Irsay seemed to express disappointment over the Colts only winning one Super Bowl with Manning at […]

Colts' new "model" still has flaws

Colts owner Jim Irsay’s statements about the Colts of the past and the new model the team has pursued have drawn the ire of many, including Peyton Manning’s current head coach John Fox and former Colts general manager Bill Polian. The media hype surrounding some relatively mundane quotes has spoiled an otherwise exciting homecoming that will see Peyton Manning, the past, battle...

This Feud is Very Entertaining

Sure I’m a Kansas City Chiefs fan. But I have to admit I really like Indianapolis Colts owner, Jim Irsay. He speaks his mind and it’s actually very refreshing. But anyone who interprets his comments about his former employee as anything other than great NFL theatre, just isn’t getting it.

Von Miller: ‘I’m working hard to gain everybody’s trust back’

Von Miller has completed his six-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy, and now the Denver Broncos linebacker hopes to put his off-the-field issues behind him. “I definitely made mistakes in the past, but it wouldn’t do anybody any good to go back and defend that stuff,” Miller said Monday. “I’ve already served my suspension. I’m working hard...

Can Luck be Manning?

The past present and future quarterbacks of the Indianapolis Colts will meet Sunday night at Lucas Oil Stadium and ESPN's NFL Nation spent part of this week asking players if Andrew Luck is the next Peyton Manning. Most of us should agree: There will never be another quarterback with Manning's combination of instincts football intelligence pocket presence and quick release...
