The New York Jets suffered their first loss of the season in week 2, in a particularly frustrating manner. A flood of negativity is generally going to follow the season’s initial loss, like nobody ever saw it coming. Unfortunately, the Jets weren’t going 16-0 this year. There are issues with this team that are going to rear their ugly head in many losses this season. A rookie quarterback. Inexperienced wide receivers. A slightly too pass happy offensive coordinator. Inconsistencies in the secondary. Holes on special teams. Regardless, the Jets have a very good chance to get above .500 this week in a critically (yes, even though it is only week 3) important divisional game. The Jets don’t want to put themselves at 1-2 heading into two difficult road games against Tennessee and Atlanta, never-mind start out in the AFC East 0-2. Similar to the Jets, Buffalo has a rookie quarterback and a stout defense. EJ Manuel has been impressive to start the season, completing over 68% of his passes and leading a comeback victory last week over Carolina. The Bills have some quality pieces around Manuel in CJ Spiller, Fred Jackson, Stevie Johnson and rookie receiver Robert Woods. However, Rex Ryan has a nice track record against rookie quarterbacks and this will be Manuel’s first road start. Can the Jets get back on the winning track? Let’s get into the 12 Pack… 1. Geno Smith will have a solid, bounce-back game. He will complete around 60% of his passes, throw for a touchdown, have only one turnover and finish with over 225 yards passing. He will also rush for at least 25 yards. Smith will be sacked 3 times or less. 2. Chris Ivory will receive at least 14 carries and finish with over 65 yards rushing, along with his first touchdown as a Jet. 3. EJ Manuel will complete over 60% of his passes, throw for right around 200 yards and throw for a touchdown. However, he will have at least two turnovers and be sacked four times. 4. CJ Spiller will finish with 90 yards of total offense and a touchdown. 5. Stevie Johnson will lead Buffalo in receptions and receiving yards, finishing with 6 catches for 83 yards. 6. Mario Williams will have 1 sack, coming off his monster performance last week. 7. Quinton Coples will have at least .5 sack in his season debut. He will play roughly 45-50% of the total snaps. 8. Jeremy Kerley will have 4 receptions for 55 yards in his return to the line-up. Santonio Holmes will have comparable numbers. 9. Kellen Winslow Jr will catch his second touchdown of the season. 10. Dee Milliner will play about 50% of the snaps, rotating through with Darrin Walls and Kyle Wilson. 11. Bilal Powell will finish with 60 total yards on offense. 12. The Jets will win and cover the 2 point spread, with a 20-14 win over Buffalo. - 12 Pack Record – Against the Spread (2-0), W/L (2-0)
