Down and Distance:
Hey everybody and welcome to another edition of Under Center, where I discuss who I believe are the top 5 best quarterbacks in fantasy football for the week! Who will top the list this week and who will see their stock drop? Take a look and find out!
5. Russell Wilson
Russell Wilson is red hot right now, having thrown for multiple touchdowns in four straight games. He’s facing off against the Minnesota Vikings, who have given up 21 passing touchdowns this season. That, coupled with the chance that Wilson could have Percy Harvin back at wide receiver , could mean that it could be a mighty fine week for Russell Wilson.
4. Drew Brees

Although Brees is facing a tough defense this week in the San Francisco 49ers, Brees is simply too good to sit just because he’s facing some tougher opposition. He’s thrown 11 touchdown passes and over 1,100 yards in the last three weeks and only two picks. Brees is in rare form, and even a good defense like San Francisco’s is going to feel his wrath.
3. Cam Newton
Cam has a very favorable matchup this week on Monday Night football against New England. I think what makes Newton a great threat and a sure start this week is the fact that he’s a dual threat. He can do damage with his arm and with his legs. I think he’s going to do A LOT of damage on the ground against a Patriots defense who’s very poor against the run. They’re ranked 30th in run defense and Cam is going to use his size and speed to keep New England on their toes this week in prime time.
2. Peyton Manning
Yes, I know. Peyton is facing the undefeated Chiefs. The Chiefs are a team built on their solid as a rock defense. But at the end of the day, this is what Peyton Manning thrives on. His absolute tear of a season is going to continue as long as his ankle holds up, which I think won’t end up being a problem. Think of this. It’s week 11 and Peyton Manning already has 33 touchdown passes. At this rate, nothing short of a miracle could really slow Peyton down.
1. Nick Foles
(Associated Press/Julio Cortez)
Who would have guessed a few weeks ago that Nick Foles would be having the kind of season he’s having!? He’s been a great fit in Chip Kelly’s offense and might have saved Philly’s season in the past few weeks. Thus far this season he’s been efficient, with 16 touchdowns and no interceptions. Some people might have questioned if Foles had a fluke game when he threw seven touchdown passes against Oakland. He threw three more TD’s against Green Bay and still isn’t getting the respect he deserves for playing lights out in the past few weeks. This week against Washington, he looks to prove himself once and for all as a top dog. Heck, this is a Washington team that gave up 34 points to the Minnesota Vikings last week. Foles is looking to carve them up this week and continue on this tear.
1. Robert Griffin, III
I think RG3 is improving from week to week after a slow start. I expect a high scoring shootout of a game against Philly. He’s a safe start in my opinion.
2. Matthew Stafford
Stafford remains a top start in fantasy because of his consistency and the sheer amount of passes Detroit throws every week. He’s throwing an average of 41 passes a game. With those kinds of attempts, good things are coming.
3. Case Keenum
Keenum has looked strong since rising to the first string of the Texans offense. He’s thrown seven touchdowns and no picks since week 7 and this week he’s facing the Raiders, who recently gave up seven touchdown passes to Nick Foles and the Eagles. I’d say Keenum is a good start at QB if you’re in need of a starter, and I’m guessing he’s still available on quite a few waiver wires.

BEST OF MAXIM
Drew Brees is an interesting guy. Many people know most facts about him, such as the fact that he is shorter than the prototypical NFL Quarterback. Or that he owns a Jimmy Johns. Or that he thinks the prisoners in Guantanamo Bay are treated super well. But those are the big facts. I like to know a man more personally, in a way you can’t gather from just a few articles and twitter...
It is going to be fascinating to watch Johnny Manziel at the next level. I have no clue if he will succeed or not, but it will be spectacular either way.
Drew Brees thinks he has qualities similar to Russell Wilson.
“He’s got all the playmaking ability to be a great player. [There are] guys like [Manziel] in this league. Russell Wilson and his ability to run the football and...
Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel is a dynamic playmaker that have many scratching their heads as to whether or not he will be a successful QB. Drew Brees seems believes that for Manziel the transition will be a smooth one, even going as far as to compare him to Russell Wilson.

Many people know most facts about him, but these are the lesser known ones.
Johnny Manziel doing Johnny Manziel things.
Texas A&M starting quarterback has a big name in his corner when it comes to supporting his chances to be an NFL starting QB. New Orleans Saints starting QB Drew Brees said the reigning Heisman Trophy winner is " is a heckuva player" during an interview with FOX Sports.com.
“He’s got all the playmaking ability...
Ever since Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel exploded on the scene in 2012, NFL scouts have been enamored with his playmaking ability yet wary of his 6-1, 200-pound frame. Manziel's 2013 campaign has put much of that concern to rest, as Manziel has moved up to No. 5 overall on the CBSSports.com prospect rankings for the 2014 NFL Draft.
Former Purdue quarterback Drew Brees...
Saints quarterback Drew Brees spoke with FOXSports.com in a telephone interview about a variety of topics including his tight end Jimmy Graham, safety in the NFL and his remaining goals. Brees, speaking on behalf of Tide Laundry Detergent, was thoughtful and responsive in his answers:
FOX Sports: Do you want to accomplish having the all-time passing yards record? You're about...
Back in April, Eric Reid held his breath for a moment waiting to hear whether the New Orleans Saints would draft him out of LSU.
They passed, and the standout safety wound up out West with the NFC champion San Francisco 49ers instead. It has been a great fit so far.
''Upset? Well, that's just the way it is,'' Reid said. ''I did hold my breath for a little...
While watching the Seattle Seahawks dismantle the Atlanta Falcons this past Sunday, I slipped into a daydream.
It’s a frigid night in Seattle, and the Seahawks are in the midst of a bitter struggle with the New Orleans Saints. With time winding down in the fourth quarter, the Hawks are down six, but they’ve got the ball. After a back and forth game against...
NFC1. Seattle- The Seahawks have established themselves as a real contender for the Super Bowl behind a dominant defense and running game.2. Saints- Drew Brees and the Saints offense are unstoppable and the defense is getting better each week.3. Lions- The Lions will manage to win their first division title in years behind the arm of Matthew Stafford.4. Redskins- Washington will...
No quarterback in NFL history has shed the dreaded "undersized" label and reached historic heights better than Drew Brees. But the Saints' All-Pro signal-caller also knows that without that prototype size, leadership, preparation and talent are a must to make it in the NFL.
So perhaps no current player in the NFL knows what's in store for Texas A&M star Johnny...
It wasn't pretty for the Dallas Cowboys last night, and truth be told, it hasn't been pretty for a long time in Dallas. Fans of the Cowboys went into the game with the New Orleans Saints expecting to compete with Drew Brees, Rob Ryan and Sean Payton but once again felt the sting of disappointment from a blowout loss.Perhaps that's the biggest disappointment of all for...
Jim Harbaugh's team makes a return trip to the Superdome for the first time since their Super Bowl loss in February. The opponent might be different, but the memory of that building will stick with the 49ers forever.
As for the team who calls New Orleans their home, the Superdome is filled with moments of extraordinary victories and record-setting performances.
Drew Brees has...
The Dallas Cowboys aren’t at a crossroads and they aren’t in peril. Flatly, they just aren’t any good.On Sunday night in New Orleans, the Cowboys defense was beat to sleep. They gave up a franchise record 625 yards, which by the way was a two week old record. The old record was set when they gave up 623 to the Lions.Despite DeMarcus Ware’s return, his presence wasn’t enough...
OKAY, soooo was your Week 10 as bad as mine? Did anyone other than Tavon Austin break out this week? And honestly, did anyone see that coming? I mean Drew Brees and Peyton Manning continued to do their thing, but other than that, this week was a veritable Fantasy Dud. I mean come on; I won a game this week by only scoring 68 points (while being projected...
