The New England Patriots held on to beat the Atlanta Falcons Sunday night to get to be 4-0 on the season.  However, the Patriots suffered significant injuries to multiple players, such as Vince Wilfork and Aaron Dobson, that will affect how the rest of the season plays out.UPDATE:Per Mike Reiss via twitter:Bill Belichick on WEEI (re: Wilfork): "It's probably unlikely that he'll be able to play again this year."— Mike Reiss (@MikeReiss) September 30, 2013 Just confirming what we all new. In addition, Belichick does not usually discuss injuries, which means this one bothers him. Look for an injured reserve designation soon.UPDATE 10/1/2013 12:35PM EST:Mike Wilkening of NBCSports reports that Dobson is dealing with back and neck pain but avoided “major damage.” Dobson’s status for Sunday’s game at Cincinnati is still uncertain.UPDATE 10/3/2013 6:00PM ESTMichael David Smith of NBCSports reports that Vince Wilfork has been put on injured reserve putting an end to his 2013 season.  In addition, the Patriots release tight end Zach Sudfeld.Apparently, Sudfeld was told to agitate the gravel when the Patriots decided to sign wide reciever Austin Collie.  It also means that TE Rob Gronkowski could be making an appearance sometime soon.Sudfeld, if he clears waivers, could become a candidate for the Patriots' practice squad. All Pro nose tackle Vince Wilfork left the game in the first series last night with an apparent foot injury.  I noticed Wilfork could not stand on his right leg and I knew it was a serious injury.  Unfortunately, I was correct.  John Breech of CBSSports is reporting, citing multiple sources, that Wilfork tore his right Achilles tendon and is likely done for the season. This is a huge loss for the Patriots on the field and in the locker room.  Wilfork is the leader of the team and of the defense.  Joe Vellano filled in admirably Sunday night.  However, what the Patriots do going forward remains under wraps.  Chris Jones is now No. 2 on the depth chart. Also injured in last night’s contest was rookie wide receiver Aaron Dobson who injured his neck reaching for a low throw by Tom Brady.  Dobson was held on the play and took a head shot as he went for the ball bending his neck back.  No penalty was called on the play for either the hold or a shot at a defenseless receiver.  I look for the NFL to review this one.In the second quarter, running back Brandon Bolden left the game with an apparent knee issue but returned in the second half.  There is no word on the status of his injury.  In addition, cornerback Alfonzo Dennardhobbled off at the end of the game with an apparent ankle injury.  There is no word on the severity of his injury.Stay with me for updates, as they are sure to come.  You can follow me on twitter @TheSoftParade69Talk football talk cigars talk anything, I know a little about a lot. Follow @TheNFLInjuryRpt Looking for fantasy football advice?

Patriots dump Zach Sudfeld, place Vince Wilfork on IR

The New England Patriots have released rookie tight end Zach Sudfeld and have placed veteran nose tackle Vince Wilfork on season ending injured reserve. https://twitter.com/RavensInsider/status/385864445324316672 I would think the Pats will attempt to sign Sudfeld to their practice squad if he clears waivers. Many people thought he might be a steal for the Pats, but he never stepped...

FOXBORO, Mass. — Zach Sudfeld still had his locker fully intact on Friday in Foxboro. His belongings will soon be moved to East Rutherford, N.J., though. The Jets already have Jeff Cumberland, Konrad Reuland...

Patriots’ Vince Wilfork Speaks On Season Ending Surgery

It is hard to not feel bad for Patriots’ defensive lineman Vince Wilfork who underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a torn Achilles tendon he suffered Sunday night, however that is not what he wants. Wilfork took to Twitter today to speak for the first time publicly on his injury. Article found on: Next Impulse Sports

Zach Sudfeld Joins New York Jets

The Jets have picked up Zach Sudfeld, who was waived by the Patriots on Thursday.Fantasy Spin:Sudfeld's ADP soared after he was impressive during training camp and the preseason, but he failed to make an impact when the season started. He isn't on the fantasy radar at the moment, though he certainly could emerge as an option at tight end for the Jets later this season.

Patriots Release TE Zach Sudfeld

A good sign that a team is about to release you is when you barely play any snaps. That was the case for Patriots TE Zach Sudfeld. CBS Sports has reported that the Pats have decided to part ways with the player that was supposedly going to fill the void of Aaron Hernandez. That didn’t exactly go according to plan, but all hope for Sudfeld isn’t lost. If no one claims him from...

Vote: Other Than Tom Brady, Is Vince Wilfork the Most Irreplaceable Patriot?

Vince Wilfork is on the road to recovery after undergoing succesful surgery to repair his ruptured Achilles tendon Tuesday, but the rest of this season looks pretty bleak for the nose tackle. Head coach Bill Belichick said Wilfork is “probably unlikely” to play again this year, and the Pats will miss the big body on the field and in the locker room. After being drafted in the...

Patriots release Zach Sudfeld, place Vince Wilfork on IR

Bob DeChiara-USA TODAY Sports After a strong camp, Patriots tight end Zach Sudfeld did very little to help himself. Many thought he might be able to help fill the void while Rob Gronkowski was out recovering. That was never the case. He fumbled a ball in the Patriots third preseason game against the Lions, and then caused an interception in the team's first game against the...

Rookie Aaron Dobson ‘feeling better’

The hit briefly froze a national television audience so it surely stunned the victim. Falcons safety Thomas DeCoud lowered his shoulder and submarined toward Patriots wide receiver Aaron Dobson as he dropped to the turf in an attempt to catch a Tom Brady pass last Sunday night. DeCoud’s shot caused Dobson’s head and neck to bend awkwardly and the rookie writhed in pain as teammate...

Zach Sudfeld claimed by the New York Jets

Well, isn't that funny. The Patriots released struggling rookie tight end Zach Sudfeld yesterday, after the tight end did very little except fumble, cause interceptions, and drop onside kicks. Still, the young player showed plenty of potential in training camp and the Patriots were likely hoping that he would land on their practice squad. Not if the New York Jets have anything...

Jets claim Zach Sudfeld off waivers

One team’s trash is another team’s treasure.  Josh Alper of NBCSports reports that the New York Jets have claimed former New England Patriots tight end, Zach Sudeld, off waivers on Friday.  The Patriots released Sudfeld a day earlier after they signed former Indianapolis Colts wide receiver, Austin Collie.  Sudfeld made the Patriots as an undrafted free agent this year and...

Zach Sudfeld Waived by Patriots

The Patriots have waived tight end Zach Sudfeld.Fantasy Spin:Sudfeld's ADP soared after an impressive training camp and preseason, but he was awful and injured once the season started.

Vince Wilfork Missing From Injury Report, Signals Move to Injured Reserve

The Patriots practice injury report was missing one huge name on it but other than that, there has been no change to which Patriots were limited or removed from practice. Vince Wilfork was missing from today's injury list, which likely means that the team will move him to the injured reserve today. The move was entirely expected. Aside from the Wilfork absence, the rest...

Patriots sign WR Austin Collie

The New England Patriots have signed wide receiver Austin Collie. Collie was spotted practicing with the team on Thursday wearing No. 10. Collie spent training camp with the 49ers before being released during the team’s final cuts.  He will have a chance to contribute to New England, where four of the team’s six wide receivers — Danny Amendola (groin), Kenbrell Thompkins ...
