1. How will Kirk Cousins play?Cousins played well when called upon but the jury is still out on whether he can be an NFL starting quarterback.Playing against the first-strings of other teams is a good way to see how Cousins has progressed. Cousins had a great game against Baltimore and Cleveland but there were times when his completions dried out and the offense stalled under his command.Having Cousins play all four preseason games with the first-string is the next best thing to seeing him start a set of regular season games. 2. Is Pierre Garcon 100 percent healthy? There was no question Redskins' primary wide receiver Pierre Garcon was one of the most valuable players on the Redskins in 2012 - when he was healthy and in the lineup.Garcon suffered turf toe in Week 1 and endured this nagging injury all of last season. The team was 7-8 with him in the lineup. Based on the team's need for a big-play receiver and Garcon's undeniable talent, Redskins fans are absolutely looking to see if he is 100 percent and more importantly, is as productive as he was last season. 3. Will Fred Davis rebound from his Achilles injury?Fred Davis came into Redskins training camp in 2012 reconditioned, motivated, and ready to perform. His first few games reflected his changed attitude and physique following his drug suspension from 2011. After a strong 2012 preseason, Fred Davis still has a lot to prove and may be an additional weapon for RG3 if he can fully recover from Achilles' tendon surgury. 4. Which Redskins' draft picks will make an impression?Cornerback David Amerson, Redskins' 2nd round draft pick from NC State, has had a great training camp and offseason according to team sources. The Redskins certainly need to improve on take-aways from their secondary which was attacked partially due to their depleted pass rush and Brandon Merriweather's torn ACL.The defensive secondary was an area of need for Washington and their draft picks reflected this. There is a solid chance that safety Bacarri Rambo (6th round draft pick from Georgia) and David Amerson could make the starting roster if they perform well this preseason. Defensive coordinator Jim Haslett said during June’s minicamp that he expected his rookie defensive backs to play significant minutes this season, but added that he wasn’t sure if the team could afford to start two inexperienced players in his secondary.5. Who will be the third-string quarterback?Rex Grossman enters his 4th year with the Washington Redskins and his 5th year under Kyle Shanahan's system. He is the front runner for the third-string job based on his knowledge of the system, relationship with current players, and leadership qualities. However, his on-field performance is still important and the Redskins need him as a player, not coach. Grossman's competition this year for the 3rd spot is Pat White. White was drafted in the 2nd round by the Miami Dolphins in 2009 but injuries and less than stellar performances caused him to sit out two years following his stint with the Dolphins. One important thing to note is Pat White's athleticism and speed. His running speed and quickness is a perfect fit for Kyle Shanahan's Pistol offense. If White can perform the way he did at West Virginia, he might earn the third-string quarterback position for the Redskins. Pat White will have to shine when given the chance as his opportunities and chances to make the team are limited.
