Andy Reid must not be a fan of TSHQ. Or exercise. Or diet soda. Or salad. Or the I-formation. But that’s all beside the point. The main point is this giagantic human being flat out doesn’t listen to me and it’s infuriating. Weeks ago I wrote off icing the kicker. Granted, this is nothing new. Far from an original idea. But I said it nonetheless. And what does Andy do? Takes a big steamy dump, probably Chipotle based, all over my words. Just a double-middle finger salute right at freedom. I mean what was that? As soon as Tynes hooked that first kick I thought the game was over and was curious to see if Coughlin stole a page from Shiano’s book. But nope. Big ol’ Andy Reid coming in hot, calling time outs after the ball was snapped and giving Tynes a second shot. Admit it. The second that kick went up you thought it was good. It was dead center. I was ready to rip and roast Andy Reid for months. But no. Weak legged Tynes left it about four yards short and walked off a loser. La-who, Za-her.

Admittedly a bit of a boring game for the most part. And no, it wasn’t boring because it resembled an Alabama-LSU regular season matchup due to the low score in the first half. Just not as much fanfare as one would expect from a divisional game of this magnitude. Scoreless first quarter. 7-3 Eagles by halftime. 13-10 Eagles after three. 19-17 when it was all said and done. Basically no chippyness after months of talking from LeSean McCoy and Osi Umenyiora. Eli Manning just heaving the ball to Ramses Bardon on the last drive trying to bait pass interference calls which backfired on him. Michael Vick doing his best Tim Tebow impersonation by skipping passes to an open DeSean Jackson. Just a sloppy, unimaginative game.

From the first quarter through the last field goal attempt. Just poor execution from both sides. Not like the defenses were buckling down and forcing stops. Just weak production from their respective offenses. McCoy somehow eclipsed 100 yards after seemingly having zero spot in the Eagles’ first half game plan. I mean McCoy is an unquestioned top five running back in the NFL right. The consensus seems to be that Shady, Ray Rice, Arian Foster, and Adrian Peterson are the top four (in no particular order. Fifth and final spot seems to rotate between Chris Johnson, Maurice Jones-Drew, Jamaal Charles, Steven Jackson, Matt Forte, etc.) I understand the Eagles like to air it out with their receivers and have Vick make plays, but when you have a talent like Shady he needs to become the focal point of the offense. That doesn’t just mean running the ball either. Get the ball to McCoy in space and let him create. I don’t know why this is so difficult to understand.

The Giants played about as well as I thought they would play. Without Hakeem Nicks, it truly is remarkable what Manning is able to accomplish with these other receivers. Obviously, Victor Cruz is the real deal. If you still doubt Cruz, you need to put down the Hatorade. The guy has established himself as a great receiver in today’s league. But, part of what makes him great is the fact that Nicks is elite. Now, Domenik Hixon played a great game and I believe he re-emerged as the receiver he was projected to be before he got hurt in the past. A core of Nicks, Cruz, and Hixon heading forward with a backfield of Ahmad Bradshaw and Andre Brown should be enough to keep the Giants offense as strong as it was last season. Two division losses is never a good thing, especially when the Bears just stomped out the Cowboys in front of the entire country, but this Giants team will continue to improve throughout the regular season. That’s kind of their thing.

To close out, congratulations to two great members of Eagles’ nation. First and foremost, the great EatDatPussy445 who enjoyed his first plane trip and was treated to the finest Philadelphia experience anyone could have. As soon as the video is available of his trek, I will post the link in the comments. Secondly, the Eagles retired #20 prior to the game. Emotional leader and one of the best safeties of the past 15 years Brian Dawkins got his moment in the sun. No Super Bowl rings, but a hell of a career. I mean other than Ray Lewis, has anyone in recent memory had a better pre-game enterance ritual? I think not…
