FOXBOROUGH, MA - AUGUST 26: Defensive end Andre Carter #99 of the Washington Redskins looks on during a preseason game against the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium on August 26, 2006 in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Andre Carter returns to Washington for the first time since being released last March. A first round pick for the San Francisco 49er's in 2001, Carter amassed 154 solo tackles and 32 sacks for the 49er's in his 5 years there. With San Francisco hiring Mike Nolan in 2005 and subsequent switch to the 3-4, Carter moved to OLB in his final season in SFO before going back to DE after his signing a six-year, $30 million contract with the Washington Redskins, and as he did in SFO, he was used as an OLB in his final season there.

That experience makes Carter an important piece to Bill Belichick's defense as his ability to play up or down is why he was signed. Carter signed with New England on August 7th, 2011.

At 32, Carter is a prime time player. He's a physical specimen with arms that just pop as if they are filled with air like balloons. However, his strength and speed shouldn't be undernoted, as he has an array of pass rushing moves.

Carter has 9.0 sacks, 47 tackles, and 1 forced fumble so far for the Patriots and has become the pass rushing threat New England has been looking for years. Carter has played mainly out of the three point stance and at times in the two. Either way, he contains the edges against the run and puts serious pressure on the QB. That combined with his ability makes him dangerous either up or down.
