While We’re Waiting serves as the early morning gathering of WFNY-esque information for your viewing pleasure. Have something you think we should see? Send it to our tips email at tips@waitingfornextyear.com. Little the answer? “It’s no secret the Browns did not add a marquee free agent wide receiver in the off-season. In fact, they didn’t even add a mid-level free agent. Nor did they use one of their top three picks to add a receiver. They did add wide receiver Travis Benjamin, a speeder out of Miami Fla. in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. The question that begs to be asked is why would the Browns not show any sense of urgency in upgrading the receiving position? It is becoming clear the Browns’ brain trust has enough confidence that Greg Little will become the team’s No. 1 receiver—at least for this season.” [Fred Greetham/The OBR] – Arguing for and against Masterson as the ace, and Carlos Santana in the cleanup spot: “Right on, Masterson is blooming into a legitimate ace of a major league starting staff. True, he has his valleys, and even though he may never be in the truly elite circle of starters, he is still a very capable ace. With his combination of velocity and movement, the ability to go the distance, and a sufficient amount of experience as a starter, this is the year Masterson stakes his claim as an ace.” [Adam McGavin/Indians Prospect Insider] – Keeping Colt: “Don’t be surprised if the Browns retain McCoy at least through the first two exhibition games against Detroit and Green Bay, a team rumored to have interest. If he plays poorly, it’s not as though his trade value plummets — such as it is. If he plays well, however, and other teams suddenly find themselves in need of a backup quarterback, maybe the Browns can get a fourth- or fifth-round pick or a roster player to address their many needs. A young quarterback with more than 20 NFL starts is an asset regardless of whether he can throw an end-zone fade.” [Tom Reed/The Plain Dealer] – Responding to some of the reports about trading up in Thursday’s Draft: “So with that in mind, and Anthony Davis going 1st, you are then left with three players for one spot (3rd pick). Too many options could fall to the Cavaliers at four, IMO, and that’s why I don’t see the need to spend no. 24 in order to trade up right now. I also don’t think we should get too carried away with the ‘Kyrie Irving is known to be a huge proponent of drafting Harrison Barnes’ line either. Kyrie is friends with Barnes. They have the same agent. Played in the McDonald’s AA Game together. But he’s also friends with MKG who he played with at St. Pat’s, and Tristan Thompson’s friends with Kidd-Gilchrist as well for that matter.” [Brendan Bowers/Stepien Rules] – Local Cleveland prospect checks in with 11W: “Worley has made it to Columbus a couple of times already, most recently for the spring game, and greatly enjoyed his time on campus. While he does not have any other set visits, the rising senior would like to make it back to Columbus in the near future to further explore what the football program and university have to offer. We caught up with Worley to find out how his visit to Ohio State for the spring game went, when he may make his college decision, which former Glenville star is recruiting him to Ohio State, and more. Keep reading to find out more on the prospect who may keep the Glenville pipeline flowing, Christopher Worley.” [Miles Joseph/Eleven Warriors]
