Continuing on with the great linebackers in Pittsburgh Steelers history we come to arguably the greatest inside linebacker to ever play the game. In cover32′s list of greatest players in all 32 team’s history—this man was chosen to represent the Pittsburgh Steelers. The greatest inside linebacker ever drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers is: I mean just look at the guy.Photo Credit: smash-mouth.com Jack Lambert Lambert placed the fear of god into offenses that already had to content with Jack Ham, “Mean” Joe Greene and L.C. Greenwood to go along with Mel Blount and…well, you get the picture. Lambert was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1990 and was a nine-time Pro Bowl selection as well as a six-time first-team All Pro choice. In 1974 he was named NFL defensive rookie of the year and in 1976 he was selected as defensive player of the year. In his 11-year career with the Steelers, Lambert interception 28 balls and recovered 17 fumbles. Now take a look at that smile again and then argue that someone else deserves this honor. That’s right. Jack Lambert is one of the NFL’s all-time bests and he is unquestionably the greatest inside linebacker to ever lace them up for the Black and Gold of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Honorable Mentions - Levon Kirkland - Lawrence Timmons *Note* James Farrior was drafted by the New York Jets otherwise he would be a surefire pick for this list. Agree? Disagree?
