Found February 10, 2014 on cover32 - Rams:
As we discussed last week, the Rams are almost certainly moving forward with Sam Bradford under center in 2014. But what about the backup quarterback position? The Rams could use one of their bevy of draft picks to select a rookie quarterback, or they could pick up a free agent. Speaking of which, here is the list of the top 10 free agent quarterbacks set to hit the market, as composed by our cover32.com senior editors. As you can see, it’s pretty weak. I don’t necessarily agree with some of the placement of the guys on that list (I think Josh McCown should be no. 1 by a mile, and he’s buried at no. 4), but you’d be hard-pressed to argue that any of these guys are capable of being more than a stopgap starter. Still, if the price is right, the Rams could benefit from having some experience at the quarterback position if Bradford goes down again. What do you think? Power Rankings: Where does Sam Bradford rank among all 32 NFL QBs?

With each passing year, no pun intended, the National Football League becomes more and more of a quarterback-driven league. The day and age of teams running the football 40 times per game are a thing of the past, replaced by an era in which quarterbacks throwing 50 passes across four quarters of play is commonplace. Thus, having the right guy under center is more important now than...

Should the Rams draft one of the top 10 running backs to pair with Stacy?

As many problems as the Rams have had over the past 10 years, the one position where they’ve been consistently above-average, if not excellent, is running back. After bidding adieu to longtime Ram Steven Jackson, the Rams discovered a diamond in the rough in rookie Zac Stacy last season. Stacy nearly broke the 1,000 yard barrier despite starting just 12 games and projects as the...

Let’s take a look at the Rams need for a running back

Yesterday we examined whether the Rams should select a running back in the draft to pair with likely starter Zac Stacy. Today, we’re going to take a quick look at the Rams’ need for a running back overall. The answer to whether the Rams need a backup running back all boils down to how comfortable you are with the current guys on the roster. The primary backup as of right now...

Michael Sam’s father is not taking the news very well; Says Deacon Jones is rolling in his grave

Michael Sam Sr. told The New York Times that he received the news last Tuesday when his son wrote in a text: “Dad, I’m gay.” Sam’s father took the news hard. He said he was eating at a Denny’s restaurant but had to leave after receiving the text. “I couldn’t eat no more, so I went to […]The post Michael Sam’s father is not taking the news very well; Says Deacon...

Obscenely early projections for the Rams’ 2014 starting offense

In our own twist on projecting the makeup of the 2014 St. Louis Rams, we’ve decided to skip right past the offseason, not pass “Go”, and move directly to opening day 2014. It is way too early to be making projections like these, as we still have free agency, the draft, and training camp to look forward to as the offseason is just now getting underway. Think of this more as...

On The Clock: St. Louis Rams

The St. Louis Rams will have the second overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft; but they also have the 13th pick in the first round, ammunition that can help load up their roster and restore a team that surely needs more strength to make to the 2014 playoffs. The Rams need to add more talent to their team.  There is a solid debate on whether or not they should stay with quarterback...

Why the St. Louis Rams should stay, according to a local radio host

A few weeks ago, I discovered that the rift between the hardcore “Bring Back the Rams to LA folks” and the “Keep the Rams to St. Louis” folks is the modern-day Balkan Peninsula. My piece about Tavon Austin’s “LA Agenda” and my column about why St. Louis fans should accept – or at least ignore – LA fans both blew up. Those two pieces drew more comments than any...

St. Louis Rams 2014 Off-Season Report

2013 Recap The Rams were 3-4 in 7 games with Sam Bradford this season and 4-5 in 9 games after he tore his ACL, with Kellen Clemens under center. At first glance, it may appear that Sam Bradford and Kellen Clemens were comparable quarterbacks. That’s not the case though. Bradford actually had a very solid season before the injury, completing 60.7% of his passes for an average of...
