We’re getting down to crunch time here for Sunday’s showdown with the Jets. According to colleague Ian Rapoport, who was on site on the lower practice fields for the media viewing window, Patriots coach Bill Belichick had the boys in full pads today for a heavy hitting workout. Rapoport also phoned in with news of a significant trio returning to work, as Albert Haynesworth (back), Mike Wright (concussion) and Aaron Hernandez (knee) were all present for practice. It was the first time Wright had been seen since suffering the concussion. With the Jets geared up for a Ground and Pound attack, the return of defensive linemen Haynesworth and Wright up front would be significant for the Patriots, who will need to slow down the Jets running attack in order to put the ball back in Mark Sanchez’ hands. On the downside, wide receiver Julian Edelman (ankle), running back Danny Woodhead (ankle), and offensive lineman Sebastian Vollmer (back) remained out.

Albert Haynesworth and Aaron Hernandez among the missing for first Jets week practice

The first Jets week practice began with seven rather significant players not in attendance, as colleague Ian Rapoport, who checked out the proceedings, reported back from the lower practice field. Naturally, linebacker Jerod Mayo, who sprained the MCL on his left knee during Sunday’s game in Oakland, was not present. After that, defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth (back), who...

Don’t be surprised if Albert Haynesworth plays against the Jets Sunday

Albert Haynesworth walked through the locker room a short time ago. He stopped for a while to chat with Patriots owner Robert Kraft.  He then stopped at his locker, once again told media members he wasn’t talking - although he did have a friendly chat with a couple of different reporters - then suited up for practice for the second straight day. Bottom line, don’t be surprised...
