We’re getting down to crunch time here for Sunday’s showdown with the Jets.
According to colleague Ian Rapoport, who was on site on the lower practice fields for the media viewing window, Patriots coach Bill Belichick had the boys in full pads today for a heavy hitting workout.
Rapoport also phoned in with news of a significant trio returning to work, as Albert Haynesworth (back), Mike Wright (concussion) and Aaron Hernandez (knee) were all present for practice. It was the first time Wright had been seen since suffering the concussion.
With the Jets geared up for a Ground and Pound attack, the return of defensive linemen Haynesworth and Wright up front would be significant for the Patriots, who will need to slow down the Jets running attack in order to put the ball back in Mark Sanchez’ hands.
On the downside, wide receiver Julian Edelman (ankle), running back Danny Woodhead (ankle), and offensive lineman Sebastian Vollmer (back) remained out.
