The Dolphins made a lot of offseason moves that make them look like a contender in 2013, but it’s easy to forget some of the guys who already were on the roster. Wide receiver Armon Binns is a player that may be overlooked now, but turn heads in training camp. He was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2011, but was cut after training camp. He then signed to the Cincinnati Bengals' practice squad in September, 2011. The Bengals cut him to make room for center Kyle Cook, who was emerging from short-term injured reserve. He ended his stint with the Bengals with 18 receptions 210 receiving yards and 1 touchdown. He was claimed off waivers by the Miami Dolphins in December 2012. According to the Sun-Sentinel, he performed extremely well in practice last season that he played the slot for the remainder of the season. There is growing speculation he could challenge free agent pickup Brandon Gibson for playing time. One thing is for sure, he’s caught a lot of eyes including coach Joe Philbin. "I think that's the one thing we've noticed as a staff," Philbin said. "I'm usually the kiss of death, but he is playing faster. He is playing fast, and he is catching it when he gets an opportunity." "We would love to attack the middle of the field in a variety of ways. Sometimes it's easier when you have a bigger body at times cruising through the middle," Philbin said, referring to the 6-foot-3, 209-pound receiver. "If guys have a little bit longer arms, they are a little bigger, then the quarterback has a little extra room. … So that's one of the reasons we wanted to get him in there." Binns adds: "That's been the story of my life, being overlooked," said Binns, who caught 75 balls for 1,101 yards and a team-high 10 touchdowns as a senior. "In a way, it is good because it has kept me motivated. I've never had a chance to relax and feel good about myself. I've always been driven to be better and prove to people what I can do. That's the situation I'm in now." "I just want Ryan [Tannehill] and [offensive coordinator] Mike Sherman to know that I'm a guy that can be put in there to make plays, contribute," Binns said. "Put me in the game and take pressure off Mike Wallace and Brian Hartline."
