WR Rankings – Week Nine Keenan Allen has solidified himself as the Chargers number one receiver and a top-25 talent in the league at his position. Allen comes in as a top ten option this week against Washington’s forgiving pass defense. Darrius Heyward-Bey finds himself ranked as a WR2 for week nine with a game against the Texans on the slate. We expect the Texans to focus on stopping T.Y Hilton and the long bomb opening things up for DHB to operate in space in search of yards after the catch. Marvin Jones clocks in as a WR3 option this week after his scintillating four touchdowns performance in week eight. Jones has earned himself more snaps going forward and will remain a top option in the red zone. Jones is a safer play in standard leagues than PPR formats. Steve Smith comes in as a WR1 for the first time this season as the Panthers look to embarrass a overmatched Falcons secondary. The Falcons defense is horrible apart from their defensive line and Steve Smith should surpass 80 ...

Chargers’ Donald Butler still not practicing

San Diego Chargers’ inside linebacker Donald Butler has missed two games this season due to a groin injury and looks to be on track to miss his third against Washington. According to Michael Gehlken of the U-T San Diego, Butler missed practice on Monday. Butler said, like any player would after a bye week, that he’s feeling better but is being cautious. “I’m taking it one...

Philip Rivers is the fifth fastest player to throw for 30,000 yards

Philip Rivers the former NC State Standout has been on fire this year. Number 17 is coming off a historic game against Jacksonville jaguars, for the record he completed his first 14 passes in the game which is a team record and became just the 37th QB in history to cross 30,000 yard threshold for […]

It has been 5+ weeks since San Diego Chargers outside linebacker Melvin Ingram was placed on the physically unable to perform list. He is still not ready to go per team sources. The Chargers outside linebacker continues to rehab from a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered this year. His expected return date is Nov. 19, […]

Gates can understand Meriweather's frustration

Chargers tight end Antonio Gates said he can understand Brandon Meriweather's frustration after being suspended for multiple helmet-first hits against defenseless receivers. Meriweather has been vocal this week, saying, ''I guess I've just got to take people's knees out.'' ''Now whether he does it or not, you understand at one point when they...

Chargers' Johnson likely back Sunday

Outside linebacker Jarret Johnson, who missed two games with an injured hamstring, is expected to play Sunday when the Chargers put their two-game winning streak on the line against the Washington Redskins. He has been missed. Despite sitting out two games, Johnson is tied for the team lead with three sacks. ''That's huge,'' Chargers defensive coordinator John...

The Chargers could round out a trio of AFC West teams in the playoffs

It’s rare for a division in the NFL to push three teams into the playoffs. Usually, the top two teams in any given division beat up on the bottom two enough to put those unfortunate teams out of the running in the playoffs, but occasionally, it does happen. Right now, the strongest division in football is unquestionably the AFC West. The Raiders, the division’s worst performer...

Chargers' QB can't miss; Redskins' RG3 looks human

If Philip Rivers' passing stats look familiar, it's because they used to belong to Robert Griffin III. At least it looks that way. Nothing Rivers throws seems to hit the ground or find the wrong-colored jersey. He leads the NFL in completion percentage, hitting 73.9 percent anchoring the offense installed by new coach Mike McCoy. Rivers has 15 touchdowns and five interceptions...

Fantasy Football: Week 9 start ‘em sit ‘em RB

Start Ryan Mathews against the Redskins. Yes, start him. Mathews has 212 rushing yards over the last 2 weeks and the Chargers have won both games. Fantasy owners will want to get their value from Mathews before he breaks his collarbone, sternum, femur, or some other ridiculously difficult bone to break. Washington has allowed 6 touchdowns to opposing running backs in their last...

Down the Seam: Top 5 Fantasy Football TE’s for Week 9

It’s that time again. Time for Down the Seam. As always, thanks for checking it out! Let’s go!   5. Antonio Gates – Chargers @ Redskins (Dennis Poroy/AP Images) Antonio Gates has been terrific this season. Hopefully he continues his run come Sunday when the Chargers face off against the defenseless Redskins. It seems to me this team defends their name more than it does it’s...

Chargers-Redskins Preview

Philip Rivers' revival has him again performing like one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. Robert Griffin III doesn't look to be anywhere close to approaching that lofty level. Rivers and the San Diego Chargers emerge from a bye in search of their first three-game winning streak in almost two years Sunday when they visit Griffin and the struggling Washington Redskins...
