Found April 25, 2013 on Days of Y'Orr:
3 games.  3 regular season left before Boston heads into the NHL's second season. 3 games left to prove to the city of Boston that this team isn't the floundering mess they've shown the past 6 games or so. Tonight's game is a make-up game for Nemo. When these two teams were going to meet, this is what I wrote about Tampa:  I'll be honest with you guys, this game scares the piss out of me. Tampa comes in tonight with the best offense in the NHL, scoring 4.20 goals per game! That's a ridiculous number when you consider that the number two scoring offense, the Blackhawks (who are on fire) "only" score 3.60 goals per game.  The Lightning has scored four or more goals in six games this season, most of them coming in January, although they did throw an eight spot on the board against Winnipeg on February 1st. Lately it seems that their offense has tapered off, losing their last three games and scoring five goals in the process. Funny how t...

Milan Lucic Returns to Form With Fight, Physical Play Against Lightning (Video)

Bruins fans worried about Milan Lucic didn’t have much reason for concern after the forward’s play on Thursday night in Boston. While Lucic did not score, his impact was felt in ways beyond the box score, as he returned to his old physical ways and even was involved in a fight with the Lightning’s Keith Aulie. It was a clear display that Lucic hasn’t lost his edge this...

Claude Julien’s Critical Comments Show Quick Reverse in Course As Bruins’ Struggles Continue

The Bruins look like they’re in trouble right now, and Boston head coach Claude Julien looks to be giving one last-ditch effort to fire up his struggling club. The B’s lost 5-2 Tuesday night in Philadelphia in an ugly showing in which the club was sloppy in just about every facet of the game. The Bruins should have been able to take advantage of a Flyers team that had little...

Milan Lucic Shows Signs of Life While Kick-Starting Bruins’ Return to Physical Style of Hockey

BOSTON — The Bruins, when they’re going well, play a simple, physical style of hockey. This is no secret. The same could be said for B’s power forward Milan Lucic. So one could certainly draw a correlation between Lucic’s lackluster play of late and the Bruins’ struggles, which have been on and off for almost two months now. While not every problem was solved and Lucic...

A Day in the Life of Shawn Thornton

It is no secret that Shawn Thornton is the greatest man who ever lived. He does more in a day than most of us do in a year. Usually we only get to see him in action during games, but recently Shawn Thornton let us follow him around for a day so we could see what a typical day in his life was like.  It was awesome. After the jump.....A Day in the Life of Shawn "...

Bruins Assign Matt Bartkowski to Providence

The Providence Bruins are getting some reinforcement on the blue line, and it comes just in time for the Calder Cup playoffs. The Boston Bruins announced Friday that defenseman Matt Bartkowski has been assigned to Providence. This comes after Bartkowski appeared in 11 games with the big club after being called up earlier in the season. Bartkowski actually looked pretty good during...

Jaromir Jagr Fans in Philadelphia Sport Mullets, Jerseys From Entire Career (Photo)

Jaromir Jagr has been around the NHL for 19 seasons now, and over that time he’s become a pretty popular figure in the game. But more than that, Jagr’s gotten attention for not only his hockey skills and demeanor, but that sweet mullet from earlier in his career, too. On Tuesday the Bruins were down in Philadelphia, and it seems the hockey faithful in Pennsylvania still appreciate...

Which Division Did the Lightning Play in During Their Expansion 1992-93 Season?

The Tampa Bay Lightning are celebrating their 20th season in the NHL, but for some of us, it still feels like yesterday that they were the new kids on the block. In their first season, they hosted opponents in Tampa’s 11,000-seat Expo Hall at the Florida State Fairgrounds and finished with just 23 wins (sadly, that’s not even close to their worst season). It took them four seasons...

Grindin' Gears: Where We Find A Black And Gold Turd In The Punchbowl

This Bruins team had a hot start when the season started and carried it throughout February. Suddenly the calendar turned and everyone talked about how March was going to be a meat grinder. 17 games in 31 days (before snow storms, etc) and it would prove if this team was a contender or a pretender. Now we're at the end of the regular season and this team is still fighting...

Bruins Look to Fight Off Spoiler-Minded Lightning As Regular Season Winds Down (Video)

As far as playoff implications go, the Bruins’ final three games do have huge significance. It remains to be determined whether the B’s will beat out Montreal for the Northeast Division crown and the No. 2 seed, but they are guaranteed a spot in the postseason. Boston would certainly like to gain some momentum heading into the playoffs, though, as the team has dropped five of...

Flyers 5, Bruins 2

Call it a win for the Flyers and Boston charities. Make it one blown opportunity for the Bruins to stand alone atop the Northeast Division. Matt Read and Oliver Lauridsen scored 7 seconds apart to lead the Philadelphia Flyers to a 5-2 victory over the Boston Bruins on Tuesday night. The Bruins are second in the Eastern Conference and lead the division. But the Bruins and Montreal...

About Last Night…St. Louis’ Hat Trick Rakes Leafs

Martin St Louis rang up a hat trick for the Tampa Bay Lightning as the raked the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-2. Steven Stamkos added a goal and an assist in the win and went +5 on the evening. SPIN: St. Louis now jumps to the top of the scoring list with 58 points this season, 42 of them assists. Phil Kessel and Joffrey Lupul scored the goals for Toronto. This was the kind of night we...

Bruins Shutout Lighting 2-0

For the first time in a while the Boston Bruins played a very solid game defeating the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-0. It was only the Lightning, but based on the Bruins recent play, a solid win is nothing to scoff at. The Bruins saw goals from the German hammer Dennis Siedenberg and from the true 7th man Daniel Paille. Yes, the 7th man award was awarded, and went to Dougie Hamilton. Diehards...

Mike Augello: Lineup Shuffling In The Sunshine State; Leafs Vs Panthers

The Leafs emerged after a few days of sunshine and relaxation in sunny Florida with another subpar effort, as three third period goals were the difference in a 5-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Wednesday. Martin St. Louis scored a hat trick, Steven Stamkos and Radko Gudas scored for Tampa, while Phil Kessel and Joffrey Lupul replied for Toronto. The 37 year old St. Louis...

Michael Stuart: St. Louis Notches Three Goals as Lightning Defeat Maple Leafs

For the first time in a long time, the Tampa Bay Lightning played Jon Cooper’s style of hockey. On Wednesday night, the Lightning gave the Toronto Maple Leafs everything they could handle and more. Despite being out of the playoff race and aiming for a very high lottery pick, it was the Bolts rather than the Maple Leafs that took control of the game and cruised to an impressive...
