First, four of the top 10 Eastern vote-getters are from the all-star game host Ottawa Senators—Karlsson, Alfredsson (yeah, he’s having a big year), Spezza and Michalek. Second, on his first day back in uniform, Skid Crosby got 14,000 votes to vault into ninth place among forwards. Third (and this doesn’t qualify as idiocy) Dan Girardi (37,836) is second among write-in ballot vote-getters behind Tyler Seguin (41,443).

Dan Girardi All-Star Campaign Must Continue

Earlier I shared the All-Star balloting results that were released today and no Rangers really have a realistic chance to be voted into the game.  There is no getting around that fact, but that does not mean that the campaign spearheaded by Kevin DeLury of TheNYRBlog should fail to go forth as planned.  No denying the discouragement at Dan Girardi being 72K votes behind Zdeno...

Video: Dan Girardi Responds To All-Star Campaign

Fans of the New York Rangers have been doing a phenomenal job in their campaign to get Dan Girardi into the All-Star game.  Girardi came in second thus far amongst all write-in candidates in the first round of voting and he was asked about the campaigns during the first intermission last night.

90 Votes for Girardi

The NHL usually releases the results of All Star voting every Tuesday so what worked real well last year was to get a big vote out on Mondays. So what I'm asking everyone to do is vote at least 90 times for Dan Girardi today. The best way to get around the 30 vote limit using the online ballot is to create numerous NHL profiles using multiple e-mail accounts. The easiest way to...

Dan Girardi All Star Game Campaign Continues

New York Rangers defensemen Dan Girardi is a write in candidate on the NHL All Star Game’s ballot. Yes, a write in candidate. I am sure you are just as shocked as every other Rangers fan is. Many Rangers bloggers are taking to Twitter, Facebook and the streets to let all Blueshirts fans know they need [...]

Senators Dominate Early Balloting, Girardi 18th Amongst Defense

The first round of All Star voting results were released today and the home town Ottawa Senators dominated the balloting.  Daniel Alfredsson, Jason Spezza and Erik Karlsson were three of the top four in voting with Milan Michalek also coming fourth amongst forwards.  The only player to sneak between the Senators was Toronto forward Phil Kessel who is leading the league in goals...

Update, 10:23 a.m.:Greg Wyshynski at Puck Daddy says this about our Girardi write-in campaign..."Rangers fans have the most effective grassroots campaign so far, voting defensive defenseman and ballot snub Dan Girardi into 18th among defensemen and ahead of players like Drew Doughty (37,355), Dustin Byfuglien (32,230) and his own Rangers blueline mate Marc Staal (27,323)."...

Tyler Seguin's Hard Work Reflected in His Increasingly Powerful, Accurate Shot

Tyler Seguin's goal on a one-timer on Wednesday night in Buffalo could trick you into believing he was born a natural sniper. But NESN's Jack Edwards pointed out that that's not the case. Instead, Seguin's increasingly powerful and accurate shot can be attributed to his hard work. If his shot continues to improve, the sky is the limit for the 19-year-old, as he already...

Bruins Mailbag: Tyler Seguin Not Bruins' MVP, But All-Star Candidacy Fair for Rising Star

The Bruins continue to rack up the wins, and the Bruins Mailbag continues to pile up the inquiries. The pace of questions has slowed a bit. That always happens when the team is doing well and there's less to wonder and fret about. But this week's mailbag was still filled with some thoughtful inquiries and I have tried to provide some equally insightful answers. As always...

THE HBO CAMERAS rolled in Greenburgh Monday morning for the network’s NHL Winter Classic preview “24/7” series. Meanwhile, the Rangers discarded the tape of Saturday’s 4-0 loss to Montreal and looked to “correct this thing right away,” as defenseman Dan Girardi put it.
