Curtis Glencross had a third-period hat trick and Miikka Kiprusoff made 17 saves as the Calgary Flames doubled up the Nashville Predators 6-3. Matt Stajan picked up three assists and the Flames have posted consecutive home wins.
SPIN: Pekka Rinne is having big problems. Rinne was yanked in this one after allowing two goals on two shots in the first eight minutes of the game. He’s been pulled in four of his last eight outings and Chris Mason has been coming on in relief. With Rinne struggling the way he has been, look for Mason to snag a couple starts to try stabilize things in goal. Mason would also be a sneaky pick up off the waiver wire. Glencross has points in four of five games this month and would make a solid addition to take advantage of this hot streak. The same can also be said about Matt Stajan. Rinne should be left on the bench until he can actually play the full game consistently.

Curtis Glencross helps out in the chuckwagon barns every summer during the Calgary Stampede, so it was quite fitting that his second career hat trick was greeted to a hail of stetsons.
Glencross scored three times in the third period to lead Calgary to a 6-3 victory over the Nashville Predators on Friday night, giving the Flames their sixth straight home win.

After Jeff Carter scored a well-timed hattrick during the Los Angeles Kings free hat night, Calgary Flames forward Curtis Glencross became the newest player to have a perfectly timed hattrick. During the Calgary Falmes game against the Nashville Predators they had a “Western Night,” that encouraged fans to dress up like cowboys. The Flames had a 3-1 lead going into the third...

Question: Would you give up a No. 1 pick and a top defensive prospect in exchange for Calgary's Jarome Iginla?
Fifty-five percent of voters do not believe Jarome Iginla is worth the cost to the Penguins and that the team is doing just fine without him. Cap1681 summarized the opinion of many voters nicely.

The Calgary Flames extended their win streak at home last night to 6, defeating the Nashville Predators 6-3 last night at the Saddledome.
Jarome Iginla was noticeably absent from the game sheet last night, he had 5 shots on the night but was unable to convert. It wouldnât matter though, the Flames got it done with out their Captains contributions...

Spoke to a source today regarding the status of teams pursuing Jay Bouwmeester. I was told that for the Flames to get "serious" offers closer to what they're looking for (especially in this seller's market for defensemen), other teams want the Flames to eat a chunk of his $6.68 million cap hit before they'd consider upping the offers.
Of course, under the...
Welcome to the Hotstove! As always, I'm your host, Travis Yost.
Interesting story coming out of Pittsburgh on Friday. Rob Rossi over at the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review has reported on an initial asking price for star forward Jarome Iginla of the Calgary Flames. As expected, it's pretty steep, and not too dissimilar to what was asked for Rick Nash just one year ago.
The Toronto Sun's Mike Zeisberger spends most of his Saturday night notebook discussing a possible Penguins-Flames trade for Jarome Iginla and the league's super-tight standings (48 games instead of 82 have something to do with that) clogging up the trade rumor hotlines, but his conversation with NHL senior VP of hockey operations Mike Murphy is the gem of the column:
Though the Calgary Flames have had their share of problems recently, they've been playing extremely well at home.
That may not bode well for a Nashville Predators team struggling on the road lately.
Calgary seeks a sixth straight home victory Friday night while trying to deal Nashville an eighth defeat in its last nine road contests.
The Flames were outscored 13-3 during a...
from Pierre LeBrun of ESPN,
- Keep an eye on the Los Angeles Kings if and when the Calgary Flames and Jarome Iginla decide to begin divorce proceedings.
While it’s been widely (and accurately) reported that Boston and Pittsburgh have interest in the Flames captain should he become available, I believe the Kings would be right there in the mix as well and could...

Amazingly, this is the first meeting of these two teams this year completing the lineup of Western Conference teams the Predators have faced this season. The Predators have an average start for the month of March while the Flames are tied for last in the West (Colorado) but only four points behind the Predators. The Flames are riding the middle...
