Adam McQuaid will apparently escape anymore discipline from Brendan Shanahan and the league for his kneeing major and game misconduct against Senators forward Nick Foligno. Nick Kypreos tweeted that he is in the clear. I was on the fence about possible action (I thought one game at the most) but after reviewing the NESN breakdown, it must have been what [...]

MLive’s Ansar Khan reports that the Red Wings visited with one Brendan Shanahan, former teammate of about a third of the Wings, to talk about something that doesn’t involve reminiscing old times:
The Detroit Red Wings are probably the last team Brendan Shanahan has to concern himself with when it comes to disciplinary matters, since they usually have the fewest fighting majors...
Brendan Shanahan has his next decision to make, and this one is not going to be easy. Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid was given a five-minute major for kneeing and a game misconduct late in the second period of Wednesday's 5-2 win in Ottawa for sticking his leg out and tripping up Senators forward Nick Foligno. But is that enough of a punishment? That will be up to Shanahan. He...
You could make the case that Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid was heading for a suspension after kneeing Senators forward Nick Foligno on Wednesday night in Ottawa. However, the NHL has acted, and the B's defenseman won't miss any time. While McQuaid won't have to sit out any games, he will have to write the league a check, as the NHL has announced that the Boston blueliner...
NEW YORK (Dec. 15, 2011) – Boston Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid has been fined $2,500, the maximum allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for kneeing Ottawa Senators forward Nick Foligno in NHL Game No. 448 in Ottawa on Wednesday, Dec. 14, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.
The incident occurred at 17:45 of the first period...
I would expect the NHL to review Boston Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid's knee to knee check on Ottawa Senator's forward Nick Foligno. When I first saw the hit, I thought that Nick Foligno would be done for the night but Foligno returned to game after shaking it off on the bench. McQuaid was given a five minute major and a game misconduct.
Brendan Shanahan made his opinion regarding knee-on-knee hits perfectly clear last week, when he suspended Colorado Avalanche centre Kevin Porter four games for his hit on David Booth.
He came down harder on Porter than he has on some of the NHL's headshot artists this season. That in mind, it stands to reason that Shanahan has a special kind of disdain for knee-on-knee hits...
McQuaid received 5 for kneeing and a game.
Foligno returned to the game.
From the WTF Files: Nick Foligno’s 2011-12 Season
In case you haven’t noticed, Ottawa’s newest center is having a hell of a start to his 2011-12 season. Just thirty games in, his 10 goals and 9 assists have him well positioned to break his career high in goals (17) and points (34).
Some would say he’s developed into a different player this season. A dirtier player even…...
With J Weiss off for finals, Lee hijacks the Block Party and turns it into another 60 minutes of hockey talk. He will be joined by Habs fan Josie, Leafs honk Ben and CLNS’ Luciana Celistine repping the Pens. How does everyone feel about the massive realignment structure? Is Brendan Shanahan the model for [...]
