Found January 23, 2013 on Couch Tarts:
PLAYERS: Devan Dubnyk
TEAMS: Edmonton Oilers
What was that madness on the first? 6-1? Are you kidding me? Was that for real? It was, as it turns out, since the Sharks, somewhat predictably sat back in the second and part of the third and let the Oilers creep back into the game. Smash their faces into the ice, then offer them a heater and some aspirin. Those are my boys! A full 60 minute game is still elusive, but the season is still young. Still though, we can't ignore the domination of the Sharks in the first. What an explosion. What Vlasic scores on you, you're having a TERRIBLE night. Tonight, Devan Dubnyk was having that kind of night. Get that man a stiff drink. Boyle, Teeth, Patty, Patty, Teeth, Vlasic, all scored in the first to make the game a hilariously unbalanced 6-1. The Oilers had a choice at that point, crawl into a hole and die or fight back. They chose the second option and did alright. They got one goal back in the second on a 5 on 3 PP and then another goal in the third. Yakupov got his first NHL goal for the first goal, (and first Oiler goal) of the evening. Congrats kid. If you want a first NHL goal, play the Sharks. You will score. It is the will of the Hockey Gods. The ice looked odd in Edmonton tonight. Lots of water, lots of snow, cut up to all hell. Apparently there was a concert last night. Messy, messy looking ice. Didn't seem to impact the game too much though Edmonton got booed off the ice at the end of the first. During their home opener. Ouch. Thornton's pass to Patty was siiiiccckkkk. Soeaking of, Patty is a beast. He always has been. Love those awkward brows on skates. Not a bad second outing for the Sharks though. The got a nice win Sunday against the Flames (which I did not see coming. Since when do games against the Flames go well?) and kept the momentum going tonight. Sharks have been looking good on the PP. PK wasn't terrible either. Nice to see some improvement in those areas. Let's hope they keep it up. Nemo has said he plans to step up his game. So far so good. He had 26 saves on the night and only looked a little shaky once or twice. Now if he'll start talking to his D, we could have something here. Next game is THURSDAY at the Tank! 7:30pm start. Tune in or come on down to the Tank and enjoy some Sharks hockey!

Oilers Appeared to Use ‘Flying V’ From ‘Mighty Ducks’ Movies in Loss to Sharks (Video)

Jesse Hall sure would be proud of the Edmonton Oilers. If you don’t get that seemingly obscure and meaningless reference, you either never experienced the thrill and joy that was the Mighty Ducks movie series, and/or you didn’t watch the Oilers-Sharks game on Tuesday night. The youthful Oilers, who for some the Mighty Ducks movies may actually be before their time, looked to...

City, Oilers agree on new arena plan

The Edmonton Oilers and the city have agreed to resurrect a deal to build a new downtown arena. City councilors have voted to accept a cost-shared deal for a $480 million rink. After surrounding infrastructure is added in, the final bill will be $601 million. The money will come from taxpayers, Oilers owner Daryl Katz and a ticket tax. The deal is still more than $100 million short...

Richard Cloutier: The Corey Potter Blog

I'm a blogger. Why am I a blogger and not a "journalist"? Because bloggers can say whatever the hell they want to. However... I didn't realize anyone actually read my blogs or took them seriously until I created a Twitter account. You'll notice on my blogs, I pretty much have the same group of 15-20 people who leave comments. Outside of that group...

Sour Note to Start the Season

After the sweet sounds of a melodious shootout victory in Vancouver, the Edmonton Oilers' home season started on a sour note. Literally. As the Oilers tend to do, they invited a local music artist to sing the national anthems. I don't think that this young lady will be invited back given the reaction from both fans and media on twitter. It's not as though she didn&...

About Last Night…Oilers Get a Flat Rolling on Dub(nyk)s

The Edmonton Oilers found themselves on the short end of a killer first period by the San Jose Sharks in one of the nine games played Tuesday night. Goaltender Devan Dubnyk was shelled by the Sharks to the tune of 17 shots and six goals against in the first 20 minutes. Not surprisingly, the Oilers lost 6-3. Patrick Marleau posted his second consecutive two-goal game while Logan Couture...

Could Luongo Save Edmonton?

from Mark Spector of Sportsnet, If the Roberto Luongo to the Edmonton Oilers rumour was an ember, Tuesday's home opener was the can of diesel your brother-in-law leaves by the wood pile. Acquiring Luongo never made a lick of sense to anyone in these parts, until, of course, the Edmonton Oilers played their home opener. After 20 minutes of play the San Jose...

Richard Cloutier: Oilers Not Interested in Luongo, Might Be Interested in O'Reilly?

I spent much of the day calling around my buddies trying to find out if the Roberto Luongo to the Oilers for Sam Gagner had any truth to it. Eventually I received some information that makes way too much sense for it not to be legitimate. Let's start with Devan Dubnyk, because the only reason the Oilers would move for a goalie is if they weren't happy with the one they...

Sharks crush Oilers behind six-goal first period

EDMONTON -- The San Jose Sharks are made up of some rather old dogs, but they managed to teach Edmonton's celebrated young pups some new tricks Tuesday. The Sharks rolled up a newspaper and smacked the Oilers in the nose, scoring six goals in the first period of a 6-3 rout at Rexall Place. "We got off to a good start," said Sharks coach Todd McLellan, whose club...

Sharks 6, Oilers 3

EDMONTON -- The San Jose Sharks rolled into Edmonton and absolutely blew up the Oilers' coming out party, scoring six goals in the first period of a 6-3 rout. The Oilers, coming off a season-opening victory in Vancouver and with five young stars in their lineup, had all kinds of confidence and momentum heading into their home opener, and it was gone in a matter of minutes....
